About the position

The University of New Hampshire (UNH) is seeking a Student Sustainability Leadership Coordinator to support and administer various student-facing programs that aim to enhance sustainability leadership skills and experiences among students. This role is integral to the UNH Sustainability Institute, which is committed to fostering a culture of sustainability that aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The coordinator will be responsible for outreach, mentorship, leadership development, and the day-to-day management of key sustainability programs, including the Changemaker Fellowship, Trash2Treasure, and UNH Sustainability Advocates. The position requires a strong on-campus presence, as it involves engaging with students, faculty, and staff to promote sustainability initiatives and encourage participation in educational programs. The coordinator will work closely with the marketing and communications team to create relevant materials and will be tasked with building relationships across campus to ensure that sustainability programs are well-promoted and accessible to all students. This role also includes responsibilities for recruitment, training, and supervision of student leaders and volunteers, as well as providing one-on-one support to students involved in sustainability programs. In addition to program coordination, the Student Sustainability Leadership Coordinator will play a vital role in assessing program effectiveness and making improvements based on feedback and data collected. The position is designed for someone who is passionate about sustainability, has strong communication skills, and is enthusiastic about mentoring and supporting students in their sustainability journeys. The coordinator will also be expected to participate in professional development and collaborate with other staff members to enhance the overall impact of sustainability education at UNH.

Responsibilities
• Support broad community outreach and recruitment for all Sustainability education programs at UNH.

• Work with the SI marketing and communications team to curate up-to-date materials about sustainability programs.
,
• Build relationships and collaborations with colleagues and departments across the Durham campus.
,
• Schedule and implement class visits to share sustainability-education opportunities.
,
• Coordinate efforts to table at various University events and recruit student volunteers.
,
• Represent and promote sustainability programs at other venues as opportunities arise.
,
• Coordinate the Changemaker Fellowship Program for first-year students.
,
• Deliver and improve the program curriculum for the Changemaker Fellowship.
,
• Recruit and hire Changemaker Coaches to provide peer mentorship.
,
• Support and collaborate with Lead Coaches to facilitate meetings and events for Changemaker Fellows.
,
• Manage all program administration, including reports and records.
,
• Coordinate Trash 2 Treasure and a potential new pre-orientation program for first-year students.
,
• Develop and execute a plan for a new pre-orientation program focused on community engagement and sustainability.
,
• Coordinate the Sustainability Advocates program in residence halls.
,
• Provide 1:1 advising, mentorship, and support for students in sustainability programs.
,
• Participate in planning and coordination efforts with other UNHSI staff.

Requirements
• A strong understanding of sustainability as embodied in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
,
• A high degree of energy and enthusiasm.
,
• Flexibility, patience, diplomacy, and empathy.
,
• Demonstrated ability to think creatively, take initiative, and innovate.
,
• 1-2 years' experience implementing programs, ideally with an undergraduate student audience, and within higher education.
,
• Enthusiasm about working collaboratively and entrepreneurially to drive organizational and societal change.
,
• Leadership or mentorship experience and/or training.

Nice-to-haves
• Graphic design skills.
