Job Description
The Canadian Red Cross is hiring a Coordinator for Emergency Management (Response) in Ontario, Canada. This permanent, full-time position involves volunteer management, local readiness coordination, and support during emergencies. Responsibilities include workforce planning, onboarding volunteers, and engaging with community stakeholders. The role requires a relevant degree and three years of experience in community-based programs. The job is partially virtual/hybrid, allowing for remote work.

In this role, you will :
• Contribute to workforce planning assessments by identifying local operational needs, gaps, and promotions within the volunteer workforce.
• Responsible for directly supporting and engaging teams in volunteer sourcing initiatives to achieve set targets within an assigned geographic area as part of the defined recruitment strategies and tactics.
• Ensure completion of local and program-specific onboarding and orientation activities with volunteers.
• Responsible for implementing and leading programmatic volunteer engagement through regular communication, activities, and informal recognition, and support centrally managed engagement and recognition activities including those developed or rolled out by the VEE Manager.
• Ensure volunteer time reporting is submitted to Humani
T and communicate any necessary record updates required in the volunteer database.
• Coordinate readiness activities in an all-hazards approach with particular emphasis on risks relevant to the assigned area, and in line with CRC Readiness Standards.
• Contribute to provincial statistics and reporting by compiling and maintaining local statistics and data reporting, as requested by EM leadership.
• In support of Supply Chain Management/Logistics, provides virtual support to management of physical assets (vehicles, EM information and assets).
• Provides virtual support of tracking of financial assets and activities (, payment and gift card management, etc.).
• Play a key role during local, provincial, and national disaster and emergency responses as required, supporting the EM Virtual Response Team in an active role monitoring, and communicating to the operations lead.
• Build partnerships with stakeholders including assigned local and municipal governments representatives, NGOs, police, and fire departments as well as community leaders in a continuous effort to enhance response capacity.
What we are looking for :
• University degree or community college diploma in one or more of the following disciplines: project management, community development, volunteer management, planning and evaluation or a related field.
• Minimum three (3) years' experience at a community-based program level, with demonstrated experience in relationship management and relationship development at community or municipal level.
• Demonstrated knowledge or connection to the community in the area of responsibility.
• Demonstrated experience in development of plans and exercises.
• Preference may be given to a candidate with a background in emergency management.
Working conditions :
• The majority of the work is performed in an environment which is mostly clean and comfortable. Mobile (remote, home or office) worker arrangements will consider the tools, resources and environment required to be effective and productive.
• Ability to work non-traditional hours is required, including working weekends and evenings occasionally and participate in the Duty Officer rotation on-call.
• Access to transportation to enable traveling for in person meetings or response deployments.
