IEA Constructors is seeking a Contracts Specialist (Preconstruction) in Fargo, ND. This role involves facilitating pre-construction activities, negotiating contracts, and providing administration support to project teams. The position requires coordination with various teams and includes up to 25% travel. Candidates should have a relevant degree and at least three years of experience in construction contract management. Strong knowledge of contract principles and construction management software is essential.
Position: Contracts Specialist (Preconstruction)
Overview

Responsible for facilitating pre-construction activities, exhibit development, negotiations and providing contract administration support to project teams during project execution. This position will be responsible for coordinating with the project, engineering, development, commercial and legal teams to negotiate contract exhibits and pro-actively monitor contractual terms.

Location: This is an office position based in Fargo, ND with up to 25% travel throughout the U.S.

Responsibilities
• Facilitate negotiation of contract exhibits in support of new projects
• Coordinate pre-construction activities with subject matter experts from verbal award of new projects through contract execution to complete internal reviews of exhibits
• Assist in the delivery of a key contract terms review with the project team after contract award but prior to mobilization as needed
• Assist the operations team in drafting notices to clients in accordance with contractual requirements such as those pertaining to force majeure, owner-caused delays, and other contractual matters requiring notices
• Participate in regular project team meetings and proactively engage with the project team
• Support project closeout to ensure all contractual requirements are met including administration of certificates and warranties
• Capture contractual lessons learned during project execution and report out during the Close Out Phase Gate
• Ability to travel to company offices, client offices, and project sites up to 20% of the time
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Education and Work Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or relevant discipline; or equivalent experience
• Three+ years of recent experience in construction contract management on large and complex construction projects in the $30MM to 150MM range
• Two+ years of recent experience in using construction management software

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Required:
• Experience with Viewpoint, Procore and Project Controls software
• Possess subject-matter knowledge in contract principles
• Strong organizational skills, initiative, and meticulous attention to details
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient Microsoft Office skills (Word, Outlook, Excel)
• Knowledge of construction contract requirements and associated contract exhibits
• General knowledge of adjacent disciplines such as Estimating, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction
