WWF-Philippines is hiring a Consultant for Conservation Awareness and Gender-responsive Coastal Resource Management, located in Quezon City. The role involves editing case studies on best practices in Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) for the Oceans5 Project, focusing on community participation and governance. Qualifications include strong writing and editing skills, familiarity with coastal resource management, and experience in socio-ecological case studies. The contract runs from March 15 to June 15, 2026.

General Description

Under the Oceans 5 Project for the 30x30 goal of the Philippines, WWF Philippines was able to secure funding starting October 2024-September 2026 for activities such as the following: 1) Support to MPA Summit in Palawan on MPAs and OECMs, 2) Improved Cagayancillo MPA Management by helping policy issues on marine debris, escalating shipping traffic and IUU; 3) Community Learning and Innovation Hub, and 4) Case studies on achieving the 30x30 goal for select MPAs.

Duties and Responsibilities

To edit a case study that highlight best practices of MPA implementation in Palawan, ensuring the documents are coherent, compelling, evidence‑based, and suitable for publication and partner dissemination

Scope of Work

1. Edit a case study to clearly articulate best practices, successful strategies, replicable interventions, and enabling conditions within MPAs;

2. Strengthen narrative flow and structure so practices are presented as actionable models (e.g., governance processes, enforcement systems, community participation frameworks);

3. Take high-quality photos during field visits, capturing MPA management activities, community participation, governance practices, monitoring work, and contextual shots.

Qualifications
• Strong background in writing and editing environmental, social development, or community-based conservation materials.
• Proven experience editing human‑interest or socio‑ecological case studies, reports, or publications.
• Strong familiarity with MPAs, coastal resource management, or community-based conservation in Palawan.
• Excellent command of English; ability to maintain both technical accuracy and accessible storytelling.
• Ability to work with interdisciplinary teams and manage edits across multiple drafts.

Payment Terms
• Payment terms: one-time payment, upon completion and acceptance of outputs: One draft case study and Photo-package for the case study
• Travel and logistics charged to the project
