The role involves providing strategic economic advice on energy policy and regulation, performing financial modeling, and delivering consulting projects. The consultant will become an expert in the economic regulation of energy networks and contribute to service development. About the role

DNV's Energy Markets and Strategy (EMS) team provides economic, strategic, regulatory, and policy advisory services related to energy markets, energy infrastructures, energy technologies, and business models.

To further grow our services in the area of energy economics and regulation, we are looking for a consultant to join our EMS team located in Germany.

This role puts you at the forefront of the global energy transition. You will collaborate on innovative, early-phase projects, delivering industry-defining results to our customers. You will become an expert on the economic regulation of electricity and gas networks and the economic assessment of energy policies, investments and business models. You will develop your skills and support us in enhancing our reputation for quality, innovation, and integrity. You will perform with a high degree of individual responsibility in a role you can actively shape.

Your tasks in this role will include the following:
• Providing strategic and analytical economic advice for our clients on energy policy, economic regulation and energy market design, performing economic and financial modelling, assessing energy infrastructure investments and business models.
• Delivering consulting projects for clients as part of a project team.
• Becoming an expert point of contact for our customers on economic regulation of electricity and gas networks, tariff design, energy policy, sector restructuring, investment appraisal, economic and financial valuation, strategy and transactional advice (regulatory/commercial due diligence).
• Contributing to the continuous development and expansion of our services, including acquiring new projects and writing winning proposals.

The EMS team

The team located in Bonn (Germany) is providing economic and commercial advice on the energy sector to clients in the DACH countries and internationally. We focus on the energy transition and the impact of the switch to renewable energy resources. Rapid changes create uncertainty and risk from a market perspective, and we take an active role in helping our clients manage that risk through in-depth knowledge of power, gas and the broader energy markets.

Our portfolio of services includes policy and market analysis, economic regulation and energy market design, market and system integration of renewable energies, economic and financial assessment of investments, assets and business models, commercial and regulatory due diligence, market modelling and power price forecasting. Our clients are leading utilities, network operators, project developers, industrials, financial institutions, and various energy and climate focused government entities.

About you

You should have the following:
• Good knowledge of energy economics and the regulation of the energy sector.
• Master's degree or PhD with a major in Economics, Business Administration, Business Engineering, with a specialization in energy economics and/or regulatory economics.
• A couple of years work experience in the energy sector
• Good quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
• Excellent English language skills (written and spoken)
• Strong presentation and communication skills; good report-writing skills
• Ability to co-operate well with others
• Self-motivated, proactive, result and solution-oriented mindset, high sense of responsibility and personal integrity
