Job Description

Guidehouse is seeking a Consultant in Energy and Climate Policy to support projects focused on the green energy transition, including clean technologies and decarbonization. The role involves policy analysis, project coordination, and stakeholder engagement, primarily for public institutions. Candidates should have a Master's degree in a relevant field and 1-3 years of experience. Strong interest in sustainability and the ability to work both remotely and on-site are essential.
What You’ll Be Doing

Join our team to contribute to impactful projects that drive the global and national green energy transition. Our work focuses on key challenges such as investment frameworks for clean technologies, electricity market design, renewable integration, sector coupling, industrial decarbonization, and scaling up the hydrogen economy.

With guidance from our experienced team, you will assist in delivering successful project outcomes by supporting structured policy analysis, aiding in project coordination, and engaging with stakeholders and partners. You’ll be involved in projects primarily commissioned by public institutions across national, EU, and international levels, with occasional work for industry clients.

You’ll also be encouraged to build strong working relationships across the broader Guidehouse network, while upholding our core values of respect, integrity, innovation, stewardship, and excellence. Supporting our commitment to inclusion and diversity will be a key part of your role.

What We’re Looking For
• A collaborative team player with a proactive attitude, comfortable working with diverse groups in a consulting environment.
• Strong interest in sustainability, energy innovation, and climate policy, with critical thinking abilities, attention to detail, and creative problem-solving skills.
• Capable of working independently and efficiently, both remotely and on-site.
• Able to juggle multiple projects while understanding key objectives and client needs.
• Confident in presenting and communicating project outcomes to both internal teams and external clients.

Required Qualifications
• A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in engineering (energy, environmental, electrical), public policy, economics, or social sciences with a clear emphasis on energy-related topics.
• 1–3 years of professional experience in the energy sector (consulting, public institutions, utilities, or grid operators).
• Solid understanding of current energy technologies, market trends, and regulatory mechanisms.
• Fluency in English is essential; strong command of German is required to support our German client base. Additional languages (such as French or Eastern European languages) are a plus.
• Openness to occasional travel within Europe or internationally for project needs.

Preferred Extras
• Relevant international experience or extracurricular involvement in energy or sustainability projects.
• Prior internships or professional experience in a related domain would be beneficial.
