Geoscience Ireland is hiring an early career Consultant for Climate Change in Sydney, NSW. The role involves supporting client projects, managing tasks, and developing sustainability strategies. At Geoscience Ireland, we are seeking an early career Consultant to support the fast-growing demand for Climate Change & Net-Zero Strategy in the region. About the Role

You will be directly involved in delivery of client projects for large national and multinational companies across several industry sectors. This will include supporting complex client projects, ownership of key tasks, as well as responsibility for directly managing smaller projects. You will be encouraged to develop your skills and expertise, as well as your own professional network, internally and externally.
Key Responsibilities
• Work on client project teams, reporting to the project managers and directors.
• Understand and interpret client needs, clearly communicating client goals and overall business objectives to internal and external stakeholders.
• Gather data using a range of techniques (interviews, surveys, focus groups, data requests).
• Support on the development of presentations and reports for clients that have a clear narrative and help to inform decisions.
• Support new business generation through drafting and developing proposals with oversight from senior team members.
• Grow professional and industry contacts by representing SLR in virtual and out of office environments (events, conferences, panels).
Requirements
• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related discipline (Master's Degree preferred).
• Understanding of core concepts of climate science.
• Possession and passion for sustainability and sustainable business.
• Demonstrate understanding of some aspects of climate change strategy, for example:
• GHG accounting & development of corporate carbon footprints, including Scope 3.
• Understanding of various net-zero, carbon neutral and other frameworks (including SBTi).
• Experience developing and implementing decarbonisation strategies.
• Experience in undertaking climate change risk assessments for organisations, including climate scenario analysis.
• The candidate would also be expected to have a thorough understanding of the core requirements of the ASRS, as well as the TCFD recommendations and IFRS S2.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to deliver client-ready presentations.
• Ability to distil quantitative and qualitative data and communicate it succinctly to clients.
