Conservatory Horticulture Technician Full Time

The Conservatory Horticulture Technician at Answers in Genesis is responsible for the care and development of plant collections, supporting educational programs at the Creation Museum. Key tasks include maintaining plant specimens, implementing growing processes, and participating in greenhouse operations. The role emphasizes personal integrity and service, aligning with the organization's mission and values. This is a full-time position located in the United States.
The Conservatory Horticulture Technician (CHT) plays a vital role in the development and care of living plant collections. This position works closely with the Director of Conservatory & Greenhouse Operations (DCGO) to ensure the successful growth of plants and implementation of reliable growing processes.
Responsibilities:
• Promote the mission and standards of Answers in Genesis, showcasing our Core Values of SERVE (Serve, Equip, Relate, Value, Engage).
• Create a culture environment that embodies a second mile mindset, prioritizing personal integrity in all interactions and assignments.
• Assist the DCGO with preparations for educational and teaching programs for Creation Museum guests, fostering spiritual, personal, and professional development.
• Maintain specimens, collections, and crops using appropriate horticultural techniques and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies.
• Plan, implement, and monitor a fertilizer program, ensuring safe handling of chemicals.
• Keep accurate and current plant records, including mapping, labeling, and other responsibilities.
• Participate in weekend watering rotations, assisting with conservatory and greenhouse operations.
• Setup interior beds for events, which may include shift changes for bed and prop setup/tear down.
• Operate power equipment, such as utility vehicles, trimmers, leaf blowers, etc.
• Tolerate physical challenges of a garden and greenhouse work environment, maintaining the welfare of facilities and equipment.
• Fertilize, irrigate, and care for all conservatory and greenhouse areas.
• Trim trees, hedges, and shrubs; prepare and treat soil for planting annual color.
• Remove trash and follow standard operating procedures for all tasks.
