Job Description

The Montana Conservation Corps is seeking Conservation Fellows to assist with natural resource projects under supervision. Responsibilities include completing project goals, maintaining records, and participating in community service. Candidates should be 17-30 years old, committed to a full term, and able to work in various conditions. This position is not remote, as it requires presence in Montana and involves physical work at various sites.
Position Summary:

Conservation Fellows and Interns work under Montana Conservation Corps (MCC) staff and host site supervisors to complete projects. The specific tasks of each position will vary by host site. Work includes natural resource projects and MCC program elements. This position will need to develop positive working relationships. This position is expected to participate in all parts of the MCC program to the best of their ability. Fellows and Interns will keep host site supervisors and MCC staff informed through bi-weekly paperwork. Fellows and Interns are AmeriCorps participants. They have access to the benefit package offered to all AmeriCorps participants.

Duties:
• Accomplish project goals to the standards and satisfaction of MCC and host site supervisors/partners
• Follow all policies and procedures and work in a safe manner
• Ability to complete projects and assignments with minimal supervision
• Attend one public meeting and volunteer with a non-profit group or agency
• Promote a positive public image by being respectful at all times
• Exhibit a strong work ethic and positive service ethic
• Maintain accurate records and paperwork
• Complete and submit reports and paperwork in a timely manner

Qualifications:
• High school degree, GED, or willing to obtain
• Ages 17-30, up to 35 for military veterans
• US Citizen, National, or Legal Permanent Resident
• Available for the entire term of service
• Commitment to completing term
• Ability to pass a National Service Criminal History Check
• Strong service ethic
• Desire to serve the community and the environment
• Willing to work long hours in all weather conditions
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
• Ability to provide personal transportation to worksites, housing, and trainings

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in natural resource, agriculture, education or conservation related field
• Experience with conservation or natural resource groups.
• Previous experience teaching or managing volunteers
• Ability to work with diverse groups.
• Open to new environments, different perspectives and rural communities.
