Job Description

Northwest Youth Corps is hiring Youth Camping Crew Members (ages 16-18) for summer conservation projects in Boise, ID, from May to August 2025. Crews will camp together while working on projects like tree planting and trail construction. Participants earn a weekly stipend, potential bonuses, and can gain high school credits. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or residents, able to hike, and willing to camp without modern conveniences.
Position:Youth Camping Crew Member (ages 16-18) - CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR SESSION 1. FOR SESSION 2 APPLICATIONS PLEASE ALLOW AN ADDITIONAL 1-2 WEEKS OF REVIEW.

Location:Based out of Boise ID but local housing is not needed as crews camp together for their entire session. Project locations generally include national forests and parks throughout the state of Idaho.

Dates:

Session 1: May 31 - July 5 2025

Session 2:July 12 - August 16 2025

A Better You: Earn money and potential school credit while gaining job skills and professional references needed to build your resume. Meet new people and build physical and mental strength while spending weeks immersed in the wild mountains of Idaho.

A Better Planet: Spend 5 weeks working on conservation projects such as tree planting fuels reduction invasive plant removal trail construction and fencing. Play a vital role in improving our public lands and the environment.

Benefits/Tuition:
• $480 weekly stipend (plus potential bonuses) paid to you at the end of the session
• Potential $40/week bonus - $20 Reliability Bonus and $20 Safety Bonus
• $300 tuition cost for 5 week session paid to us; significant financial aid available based on need
• Deduction of $70/week for cost of food
• Camping safety gear and uniforms provided
• Up to 2 high school credits with school approval
• All training provided

Hours:Though schedules can vary most crews will conduct project work Monday through Friday. On Saturday and Sunday crews will stay together to conduct resupply shower do laundry and participate in recreational activities (e.g. hike). During the week crews will have a 30-minute lunch break as well as several rest/water breaks throughout the day.

Required Qualifications:
• Proof of U.S citizenship or legal residency
• 16-18 years old
• Ability to hike several miles and be on foot for up to 8 hours per day
• Able to camp for the entirety of the session away from modern conveniences (i.e. phones electronics etc.)
• Positive mental attitude willingness to learn and a team player
• Desire to conserve natural spaces and make an impact on the environment
• Ability to follow safety protocols
