Why does the job exist?
Compliance Reports Analysts will perform a technical and regulatory review of air quality compliance reports using standard methods and techniques to determine the adequacy and accuracy of data and processes applicable to state and federal regulations to properly preserve documentation and provide technical assistance where applicable. You will work with more seasoned co-workers to gain a better understanding of regulations and permit requirements. You will also provide support to the Compliance and Enforcement Section of the Air Quality Bureau, through a variety of special projects that enhance the efficiency of the Section, including software projects, database maintenance and research of the technical aspects of local, state and federal law regulations. The purpose of this position is to operate within the Compliance Reporting section of the Air Quality Bureau to help protect the health of New Mexicans and the natural beauty of the state by preventing the deterioration of air quality.
How does it get done?
• Review and process compliance reports submitted by industry to meet regulatory and air quality permit requirements.
• Prepare case reports and referrals of potential air quality violations to the Enforcement unit and investigate and seek resolution of citizen air quality complaints.
• Utilize database user interface and query software to collect and protect evidential documentation.
• Use knowledge of various scientific disciplines to provide support, guidance and technical information to the public, outside organizations, or internal audiences.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Physical, Natural, or Environmental Science, Soil Science, or Engineering and five (5) years of work experience in public/environmental health, environmental science, Air Quality Management, Biology, Engineering, Chemistry, Geology, Hazardous Waste Management, Wildlife Management, and/or Water Resources. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling nine (9) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Required to drive a state vehicle.
