Job Objective:
We are seeking detail-oriented Carbon Officers to join our company and take responsibility for monitoring the transactions of Carbon Allowances within the Emission Trading Scheme (ETS). The ideal candidates will possess an understanding of ETS regulations and reporting requirements. As a Carbon Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of carbon allowances.
Key Accountabilities:
ETS Compliance - Monitor and ensure compliance with the ETS regulations, guidelines, and reporting requirements related to carbon allowances.
Carbon Accounting -Perform comprehensive and accurate carbon accounting reconciliations and verifications to track and report allowances within the ETS regulatory framework.
Transaction Monitoring - Monitor and analyze transactions involving Emission Allowances, verifying the accuracy of reported allowances, and identifying any discrepancies or anomalies that require further investigation.
Data Management - The Carbon Officer will oversee the collection, analysis, and management of carbon-related data, allowance balances, and transaction records. Maintain records in system to accurately track and record all carbon-related transactions, including the purchase, sale, collection and surrender of allowances within the ETS. This role requires a meticulous approach to data accuracy and integrity.
Reporting and Documentation - Prepare timely and accurate reports on carbon allowances and ensure all documentation is properly maintained and accessible for auditing and compliance purposes.
Compliance Audits - Support internal and external audits related to carbon accounting and ETS compliance. Collaborate with auditors to provide necessary data, analysis, and explanations as requested.
Stakeholder Collaboration - Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to address inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and provide guidance on ETS compliance matters.
Process Improvement - Continuously identify opportunities to enhance carbon accounting processes, streamline data management, and improve efficiency in tracking and reporting allowances.
Requirements
Education & Qualifications :
• Bachelor's degree in a related field (Preferably Accounting, Finance).
• Knowledge of the Emission Trading Scheme (ETS), including its regulations, guidelines, and reporting requirements.
• Experience with data management systems for tracking and reporting transactions.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to analyze complex data sets to identify errors, discrepancies, or patterns.
• Fluency in English
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders, provide guidance, and present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
• Quick learner and adaptable to new concepts and processes.
• Experience with compliance audits, preferably related to carbon accounting and ETS compliance.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
