Job Description

ENVIROCYCLE PHILIPPINES INC is seeking a Compliance and Sustainability Manager responsible for ensuring legal compliance and promoting sustainability. Key duties include overseeing compliance processes, developing sustainability strategies, conducting audits, engaging with stakeholders, and managing documentation. The role requires staying updated on regulations, training employees, and collaborating with internal teams and external partners to drive continuous improvement in compliance and sustainability efforts.
As Compliance & Sustainability Manager, your primary responsibility is to ensure that the organization complies with all relevant laws, standards, and ethical practices while leading efforts to promote environmental and social sustainability. The role involves managing compliance processes, securing and maintaining client/customer accreditations, reviewing contracts, overseeing sustainability initiatives, and collaborating with both internal teams and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement in both regulatory compliance and sustainability goals.
1. Regulatory Compliance Oversight

- Monitor Laws and Regulations: Stay updated on industry-specific laws, regulations, and standards (e.g., ISO, GDPR, health & safety, financial regulations).
- Ensure Compliance: Ensure the company operates within legal frameworks and complies with all applicable local, national, and international regulations.
- Risk Management: Identify compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, including implementing policies and internal controls.
- Training and Awareness: Conduct training sessions on compliance issues and legal requirements for employees.
- Accomplish Forms & Documentation: Complete and review forms required for regulatory compliance and certification processes, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
2. Sustainability Strategy & Development


- Create Sustainability Plans: Develop strategies to reduce environmental impact, improve social responsibility, and promote economic efficiency aligned with the company’s long-term goals.
- Set and Monitor Goals: Establish measurable sustainability targets and monitor performance, including carbon footprint reduction, waste management, and resource efficiency.
- Continuous Improvement: Regularly update sustainability initiatives to keep pace with new regulations, technologies, and best practices.
3. Internal Audits & Monitoring

- Conduct Audits: Lead internal audits to assess compliance with both legal requirements and sustainability targets.
- Monitor Operations: Continuously monitor company activities to ensure ongoing compliance and alignment with sustainability objectives.
- Report Findings: Document and report audit results and work with relevant departments to implement corrective actions.
4. Stakeholder Engagement & External Relationships


- Regulatory Liaison: Act as the primary contact between the organization, regulators, and external auditors.
- Vendor & Third-Party Compliance: Oversee vendor due diligence and audits to ensure vendors meet both compliance and sustainability criteria.
- External Collaboration: Work with external stakeholders (suppliers, customers, industry groups) to promote sustainability initiatives and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Assist in Securing/ Maintaining Client Accreditation: Help secure and maintain necessary client/customer accreditations by managing required documentation and ensuring compliance with client-specific certification standards.
5. Reporting & Documentation

- Regulatory and Sustainability Reporting: Prepare and submit required compliance and sustainability reports (e.g., GRI, CDP), ensuring legal compliance and transparency.
- Maintain Records: Keep comprehensive records of compliance activities, sustainability data, certifications, and audit findings.
- Investigate Violations: Investigate compliance violations, work with teams to implement corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
- Review Contracts & Agreements: Review and ensure that contracts and agreements align with regulatory and sustainability requirements, protecting the organization’s legal and ethical interests.
6. Environmental & Sustainability Impact Management


- Track Environmental Metrics: Monitor key sustainability metrics such as carbon emissions, water usage, energy consumption, waste generation, and recycling rates.
- Carbon Footprint Reduction: Lead programs to reduce the company’s carbon footprint, including energy-efficient practices and renewable energy adoption.
- Calculate Carbon Abatement: Calculate and track carbon abatement to quantify reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. Ensure carbon reduction activities are properly documented and reported in alignment with sustainability goals and regulatory standards.
- Waste and Resource Management: Develop waste reduction, recycling, and resource efficiency strategies aligned with sustainability goals.
7. Vendor & Supply Chain Sustainability

- Sustainable Procurement: Implement sustainable procurement practices by ensuring suppliers meet environmental and social sustainability standards.
- Supply Chain Audits: Review supplier practices and agreements to ensure compliance with both regulatory and sustainability criteria.
- Vendor Accreditation: Review and approve vendor accreditation forms, ensuring third-party vendors meet compliance and sustainability standards.
8. Ethical Practices & Corporate Social Responsibility


- Promote Ethical Culture: Foster a corporate culture that emphasizes ethics and integrity in all business practices.
- Community Engagement: Develop and manage programs that promote social sustainability, such as volunteerism, charitable partnerships, and diversity initiatives.
- Whistleblower Programs: Manage safe reporting channels for non-compliance and unethical behavior within the organization.
9. Innovation & Continuous Improvement

- Sustainability Innovations: Explore and implement new technologies and practices that support sustainability, such as renewable energy, green building design, and sustainable packaging.
- Benchmarking & Research: Stay informed about sustainability trends and new regulations, benchmarking the company’s efforts against industry leaders.
10. Budget & Resource Management


- Resource Allocation: Oversee the budget for both compliance and sustainability initiatives, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
- Cost Reduction: Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through sustainable practices like energy conservation and waste reduction.
