Job Description

Harrison Poultry, Inc. is seeking a Complex Environmental Manager in Bethlehem, GA. This role involves overseeing environmental compliance and sustainability for a poultry processing complex, managing wastewater, air emissions, and hazardous materials. Responsibilities include training personnel, coordinating with regulatory agencies, and maintaining environmental permits. Candidates should have a degree in Environmental Sciences/Engineering or equivalent experience, along with leadership skills and knowledge of environmental standards.
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Complex Environmental Manager oversees environmental compliance and sustainability efforts in conjunction with the Corporate Environmental Compliance team for a poultry processing complex which typically includes a processing plant, feed mill and hatchery. This role actively participates in the implementation, permitting and employee training surrounding all environmental initiatives for the complex.

Responsibilities And Tasks
• Oversee and manage wastewater, storm water, SPCC, air emissions, handling and disposal of hazardous materials, handling and disposing of solid waste to ensure compliance with all lawful regulations; report violations to appropriate agency and internal leader
• Develop and deliver training to appropriate personnel surrounding permits, programs and current and new environmental initiatives including directing plant personnel in the proper operation of environmental systems
• Schedule all environmental related tasks via computerized scheduling system, keeping appropriate required records
• Coordinate with Corporate Environmental Manager and Regulatory agencies on continual permit compliance including coordinating multiple permits as well as completion and submission of required permit applications as needed
• Develop and maintain relationships with local, state and federal environmental authorities, acting as a liaison between company and regulatory agencies as pertains to environmental permitting
• Provide expertise and support for all assigned locations for environmental projects
• Follow and promote all safety initiatives, (i.e. wear and ensure others wear appropriate PPE in area where mandatory) helping to maintain a zero-accident culture
• Perform additional relevant duties as assigned

EDUCATION And CERTIFICATIONS
• Bachelors’ degree in Environmental Sciences/ Engineering or other related discipline from an accredited institution
• High school diploma or equivalent with 10 years related experience may be substituted for degree
• Certifications: GA Class III or higher in wastewater treatment or equivalent

Experience And Skills
• Minimum three (3) years’ experience in environmental compliance in a food production or wastewater treatment environment
• Demonstrated leadership experience including knowledge of policy adherence, conflict resolution and the ability to resolve issues efficiently and effectively
• Strong knowledge of environmental standards as pertains to securing and maintaining required permitting
• Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbal and written, with internal and external customers in a timely and professional manner; ability to communicate in multiple languages preferred
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize
• Ability to work effectively with others, possessing tact and discretion
• Must have good math and computer skills with the ability to learn and utilize computerized scheduling system
• Self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative and sense of urgency, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Safety Requirements
• Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
• Wear required protective equipment in all areas where mandatory

Physical Requirements
• Ability to work non-standard shifts (holidays, weekends and extended shifts) as required for business need
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures (heat (105ºF, 40ºC) and cold (0ºF, -17ºC)) as well as exposure to outdoors in a wet and/or dusty environment
• Ability to stand and/or walk throughout shift
• Ability to work while exposed to noise (>85 decibels), CO2, and moving production
• Work around pungent live and/or raw animal odors
