Job Description
The Baltimore County Government is seeking a Community Sustainability Coordinator to support the Chief Sustainability Officer in promoting environmental initiatives. This role involves developing sustainability programs, enhancing public communication, and engaging with community organizations. Responsibilities include managing projects, preparing reports, and representing the department at public events. Candidates should have a relevant Bachelor's degree and three years of experience. The position offers a flexible 34-hour workweek with an hourly salary range of $33.35 - $49.45.
About the position
The Community Sustainability Coordinator will work under the Chief Sustainability Officer to promote environmental sustainability initiatives across Baltimore County. This role involves developing and leading sustainability programs, engaging with community organizations, and enhancing public communication regarding sustainability efforts. The position requires a collaborative approach to foster community engagement and climate action, ensuring that sustainability messages resonate with diverse audiences.
Responsibilities
• Develop and coordinate sustainability initiatives in partnership with County agencies and community organizations.

• Drive sustainability communications, including public messaging and materials development.
,
• Collaborate on the compilation, writing, and distribution of sustainability reports.

• Prepare and edit presentations, memos, and reports for the Chief Sustainability Officer and other stakeholders.

• Represent the Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability at public meetings and events.
,
• Coordinate the articulation of the County's sustainability message and strategy.
,
• Serve as a liaison to internal County government workgroups and initiatives.
,
• Manage complex projects related to sustainability, including partnership development and compliance tracking.

• Conduct technical and policy analysis, including research and summarizing findings.
,
• Research and track funding opportunities for sustainability initiatives.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Government, Political Science, Public Affairs, Communications, Data Analysis, Graphic Design, or a related field.

• Three years of experience in a related field.
