Job Description

The Communications Specialist position at CP01 University System of New Hampshire involves developing communication materials for the ADAPT Agroforestry Project, promoting sustainable agriculture in New England. Key responsibilities include leading the ADAPT newsletter and assisting with various communication tasks. Candidates should have experience in communications, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently. This is a part-time role based in Durham, NH, and not remote.

The UNH ADAPT Agroforestry Project, led by Dr. Heidi Asbjornsen in partnership with an interdisciplinary team of researchers at UNH, Dartmouth and Yale, is seeking to fill a position for a Communications Specialist for multiple aspects of communication. The ADAPT project-Promoting Climate-Smart and Sustainable Agriculture in New England through Regionally Adapted Agroforestry Systems-encourages broad adoption of agroforestry practices in New England through research, education and extension. Agroforestry is the intentional integration of trees with crops and/or livestock. The project's work is focused specifically on three agroforestry practices: silvopasture, food forests, and forest farming. The Communications Specialist will lead efforts on developing our newsletter and other aspects of communication. This position is not considered essential staff.

Duties/Responsibilities

Office Work (100%)
• Leading development and release of the ADAPT newsletter, "The New England Agroforester."
• Assisting with other aspects of communication as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Experience with communications and writing
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work well both independently and as a member of a team
• Strong work ethic, including a high level of reliability, commitment, and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with communication of projects in the natural resources field
• Education and experience with agroforestry, agriculture, and/or forestry
