Job Description

The Wilderness Society is seeking volunteers for its Committee of Management in Melbourne, VIC. The role involves governance responsibilities, strategic direction, and performance management. Candidates should have a commitment to environmental stewardship and strong interpersonal skills, with a preference for experience in governance, finance, campaigning, risk management, or fundraising. The time commitment is approximately 5-10 hours per month, including meetings and contributing to reports.

VOLUNTEER WITH US

The TWS Victoria Committee of Management (CoM) are currently looking for individuals who are committed to putting their energy, ideas and skills towards the TWS purpose of protecting, promoting and restoring wilderness for future generations.

The CoM are responsible for the governance of TWS VIC including: setting strategic direction, financial management, performance management of the Campaigns Manager, as well as participating in and contributing to national organisational governance and strategy.

Applicants should have a commitment to the vision and activities of TWS, and strong interpersonal and networking skills.

In particular, the Committee would welcome individuals with skills and experience in the following areas:
• Governance;
• Finance;
• Campaigning and Organising;
• Risk Management;
• Fundraising.

REQUIRED COMMITMENT

The time commitment can vary throughout the year but is approximately 5-10 hours a month including:
• Reading and contributing to various reports, policies and papers
• Attendance and active participation at Committee meetings and the AGM (after hours);
• Public and professional support of TWS and its activities.
