We are seeking an experienced Commercial Solar Technician with 3-5 years of hands-on expertise in commercial solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and battery energy storage systems (BESS). In this role, you will perform inspections, repairs, maintenance, and installations for commercial rooftop solar arrays and integrated BESS, ensuring optimal system performance and client satisfaction. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional who thrives in a field-based environment, prioritizes safety, and contributes to our growing service team. This position involves travel to client sites, collaboration with referral partners (e.g., roofing contractors), and leveraging our CRM and AI-driven tools for efficient job management.

Key Responsibilities
• Conduct on-site inspections, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of commercial solar PV systems (100kW-3MW+ scale) and BESS, including inverters, panels, wiring, mounting structures, and energy storage components.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance, such as cleaning panels, replacing faulty parts, optimizing system configurations, and ensuring compliance with NEC and local codes.
• Handle removals, reinstallations, and upgrades for solar arrays during roof repairs or system expansions, coordinating with roofing partners and facilities teams.
• Install and commission BESS integrations, including battery management systems (BMS), inverters, and grid-tie connections.

Qualifications and Requirements
• 3-5 years of direct experience in commercial solar PV installation, service, or maintenance, with proven expertise in BESS (e.g., Tesla Powerwall, Sonnen, or equivalent systems).
• NABCEP PV Installation Professional certification (or equivalent); additional BESS certifications (e.g., NABCEP Energy Storage) highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of commercial solar components, electrical systems (DC/AC), grid interconnection, and energy storage integration, including 3-phase systems.
• Proficiency with tools and equipment for solar diagnostics, including thermal imaging, string testing, and BMS software.
• Solid foundation in electrical theory, PV system design, and performance monitoring.
• Valid driver's license with clean record; ability to travel regionally (up to 50% overnight) and work at heights (rooftop access required).
• High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in electrical engineering, renewable energy, or related field preferred.
• Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in various weather conditions, and perform manual labor.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in teams.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and customer service in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for client interactions and team collaboration.
• Use diagnostic tools (e.g., multimeters, thermal imaging cameras, IV curve tracers) to identify issues like shading, degradation, or inefficiencies.
• Monitor system operations, analyze performance data, and recommend optimizations to maximize energy output and extend asset lifespan.
• Document work in our CRM system, including before/after photos, performance reports, and recommendations for recurring maintenance contracts.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols (OSHA, NABCEP standards) and environmental regulations on all job sites.
• Provide client education on system performance and maintenance best practices to support long-term relationships.
• Collaborate with the team on AI-detected leads and referral-driven projects to prioritize high-value opportunities.
• Assist in training junior technicians and contributing to process improvements for scalable service delivery.

Preferred Skills
• Experience with commercial-scale systems (100kW+), including string inverters, microinverters, and hybrid BESS setups.
• Familiarity with monitoring software (e.g., SolarEdge, Enphase) and CRM tools for job tracking.
• Background in roofing, electrical, or HVAC trades for cross-functional troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of emerging trends like AI-driven diagnostics or permit compliance in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic.

What We Offer
• Competitive salary with performance incentives and overtime opportunities. Salary is commensurate with experience.
• Comprehensive benefits: Health, dental, vision insurance; 401(k) with match; paid time off; and professional development (e.g., NABCEP recertification support).
• Company-provided vehicle, tools, PPE, and uniform.
• Growth potential in a rapidly expanding company focused on sustainable energy.
• Supportive team culture with emphasis on work-life balance and safety.
