Imagine a career where your passion for sustainability is not just a job, it’s a purpose. With Windlab, you’ll have a front seat in Australia’s renewable energy transition. Be the changemaker, for future generations and right now.
About Us
Windlab is the 100% Australian renewable energy company championing the nation’s clean energy transition and we exist to go big on renewables. Fully integrated across the entire renewable energy value chain, we use our world-leading science to find, construct and operate Australia’s top-performing renewable energy projects.
We recognise that we operate on the traditional lands of First Nations peoples who have a continued sacred connection to Country, and with that comes responsibility. Our long-term commitment for reconciliation is to build respectful, trusting, and mutually beneficial partnerships with Traditional Owners and embed respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, stories and knowledge in everything we do.
Our organisational culture is central to our success, and our pillars of character drive everything we do:
• Speak up - Make a difference. The biggest challenge humanity faces need big brains, big voices, and fresh perspectives.
• Respect expertise - Listen and learn, always. Ability trumps hierarchy. Share smarts and contribute.
• Prove it - Science and business do not progress on assumptions. The problems we are solving deserve robust justification.
• Collaborate - Our skills mix is our superpower. Democratise knowledge, multiply capacity.
About the Role
As the Commercial Lead and a key member of the Delivery leadership team, you will shape Windlab's commercial positions and contract strategies. Working closely with the relevant project teams, you will lead high-value contract negotiations, securing optimal terms and conditions across a range of contract types, including procurement & construction, offtake, land and other commercial arrangements.
You will provide pre-contract commercial support across all business units, working with the project teams to plan, manage and execute contract negotiations, and provide ongoing support through the life of those contracts.
Your role is key in driving competitive outcomes and mitigating risks. You will collaborate closely with key advisors and specialist consultants, including internal and external legal counsel. Travel within Australia and occasionally internationally may be required to engage with stakeholders and coordinate project activities.
Who we are looking for
A highly skilled commercial and contract professional with extensive experience in pre-award contract negotiations. As the Commercial Lead you will focus on pre-contract management, you will bring in-depth knowledge of legal requirements, regulations, and industry trends.
You should have a proven track record of negotiating high-value, complex infrastructure contracts and a strong understanding of various contract structures, risk allocation, and strategic procurement decisions. You will also have demonstrated success in leading a small team. You will ideally have a good understanding of project development and financing processes, in renewable energy but potentially broader infrastructure assets.
Key to your success in this role will be your exceptional communication skills, ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, and your adept problem-solving abilities. Your financial acumen and commercial expertise will be essential in effectively managing business risks and developing successful contract strategies.
• Applicants are encouraged to apply at their earliest convenience. Windlab will remove this advertisement if the position is filled.
• By submitting your application, you agree to Windlab collecting, holding, using and disclosing your personal information in accordance with Windlab Privacy Statement.
