Job Description

COASTAL ECOLOGY GROUP is hiring a CNC Milling Machinist in Smyrna, TN. The role involves setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC milling machines to produce precision metal parts. Candidates should have CNC machining experience, proficiency in G-code programming, and knowledge of quality control. The position offers full-time shifts (2nd and 3rd) with competitive pay and benefits, including health insurance and paid time off.
Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled CNC Milling Machinist to join our team. This role involves setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC milling machines to produce precision metal parts according to specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of machining techniques, G-code programming, and quality control standards.

Openings across 2nd & 3rd shifts

2nd shift, 2:00pm-10:30pm, 5 days/week, M-F

3rd shift, 10:00pm-6:30am, 5 days/week,S-Thur.

Key ResponsibilitiesMachine Operation & Setup
• Set up and operate CNC milling machines according to job specifications.
• Load and secure raw materials, select appropriate tooling, and set machine parameters.

Programming & Adjustments
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD/CAM files.
• Modify G-code or M-code programs as needed to optimize production.

Precision Machining
• Perform milling operations such as drilling, tapping, slotting, contouring, and profiling.
• Ensure parts meet tight tolerances and quality standards.

Inspection & Quality Control
• Use measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify part dimensions.
• Perform first-article inspections and make necessary adjustments.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on machines.
• Identify and troubleshoot issues with tooling, materials, or machine settings.
• Maintain proper levels of oil and coolants.

Documentation & Safety
• Maintain accurate records of production data, machine settings, and inspection results.
• Follow all company policies and safety procedures.
• Wear required PPE and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Qualifications:
• Minimum 2 years of CNC machining experience with technical degree, or 4 years of experience without.
• Experience with Okuma CNC Bridge Mill and Okuma Vertical Mill
• Proficiency with SolidWorks and AutoCAD
• Experience in automotive manufacturing
• Familiarity with multi-axis CNC milling machines and lean manufacturing practices.
• Experience with SurfCAM or WorkNC

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Manual dexterity and attention to detail.
• Work in a shop floor environment with exposure to machine noise, coolant, and metal shavings.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
