Description

The NYU School of Professional Studies seeks a Clinical (Assistant/Associate/Full) Professor of Real Estate for the Schack Institute of Real Estate, effective Fall 2025. (The rank of the position will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.)

The Schack Institute of Real Estate is actively seeking candidates who are distinguished academics and/or professionals with exemplary experience in Commercial Real Estate Development in the private sector (privately held or publicly traded), public sector, ESG, and/or impact space. Successful candidates must have the ability to teach courses in one or more of the following areas: introduction to real estate, public/private development, urban economic development, land use, planning, market analysis, affordable housing, impact development, sustainable development, development process, asset management, law, sustainability, green building, urban economics, city planning, comparative international real estate development, green infrastructure and decarbonization, and global real estate markets. Candidates with industry experience in one or more areas mentioned above will be prioritized. It is preferred that all candidates have some proficiency in financial underwriting, portfolio management, asset management, or capital markets, though pure planners will also be considered.

Reporting to the Associate Dean of the Schack Institute of Real Estate, the successful candidate will work closely with the Academic Director to implement the vision to expand Schack’s real estate programs and initiatives and increase its profile and visibility locally, nationally, and internationally.

A successful candidate will (i) teach within either the graduate and undergraduate programs and may also teach within corporate & executive education programs; (ii) develop courses; (iii) advise students; (iv) collaborate with other faculty and industry partners; and (v) engage with the broader academic and industry communities, as appropriate. A successful candidate will be further expected to demonstrate commitment and dedication to the Schack Institute, SPS, and the University to strengthen shared governance and advance SPS’s mission. All clinical faculty are dedicated to teaching, student advising, and various kinds of scholarly work, creative production, and professional activity, which may include research, outside professional service on committees, or in administrative or advisory roles. Additionally, ideal candidates will have experience working with a diverse base of professionals and/or teaching a diverse population of students. This full-time position begins with a two-year renewable faculty appointment.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $85,000 - $135,000. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will (i) hold an advanced degree (terminal in their field or discipline), preferably in real estate development, business administration, construction, city/regional planning, urban economics, finance, hospitality, law, or a related field; (ii) have a significant industry and/or academic track record; (iii) have at least three years of academic experience and effectiveness in higher education. Candidates should provide evidence of initiative in curricular development, demonstrate an ability or potential ability to engage in meaningful service or administrative work, and supply evidence of promise in scholarly work.
