About the position

The Climate-Smart Lab Technician position at Clemson University involves supporting a USDA-funded project focused on monitoring soil carbon stocks and greenhouse gas fluxes in the beef cattle system in South Carolina. The role is based at the Edisto Research and Education Center in Blackville, SC, and requires collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team to conduct laboratory analyses and assist in educational activities.

Responsibilities
• Assist with soil and forage samples analysis to determine carbon/nitrogen concentrations, including weighing, grinding samples, and preparing them for analysis.

• Support and assist graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in laboratory analyses and sample preparation, providing training as needed.

• Maintain and organize laboratory facilities, including repairs and cleaning, and communicate storage and product needs.

• Support data collection and educational activities, including organizing workshops and collecting data as directed by project leaders.

Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in a related field or a high school diploma with advanced journey-level work experience in a clinical or research setting.

• 2+ years of relevant experience with instruments and techniques, particularly in farm, livestock, and/or forage management.

Nice-to-haves
• Master's Degree or Doctoral/Professional Degree in Agronomy, Plant Sciences, Soil Science, Ecology, Animal Sciences, or related disciplines.
