Job Description

The New York Climate Exchange is seeking a Climate Tech Fellowship Program Delivery Partner for a 9-month contract starting in Q2 2025. The role involves designing and delivering virtual modules for a pilot fellowship, recruiting mentors, and collaborating with the Innovation and Acceleration team. The position requires up to 10 hours per week and aims to support innovators from partner universities in exploring commercialization pathways for climate tech.
The New York Climate Exchange (The Exchange) is a new not-for-profit designed to accelerate climate solutions. Our diverse coalition of partners—committed and prepared to collectively disrupt the status quo—incorporates local and global perspectives on climate change from academia, the private sector, and community-level organizations; this multidisciplinary coalition speaks to the collaboration necessary to unlock integrated and scalable approaches to climate change. While The Exchange will be headquartered at a dedicated campus on Governors Island, its spirit and influence extends beyond the Island into New York City and across the country and world.

The Exchange is seeking an experienced program delivery partner to support the pilot version of The Exchange’s Climate Tech fellowship in 2025. This program aims to serve innovators emerging from universities as they begin to explore commercialization pathways for their climate tech. The consultant will work closely with The Exchange’s Innovation and Acceleration team to develop a clear and actionable program plan that aligns with our mission and goals. Responsibilities include finalizing program details, running the Fellowship curriculum modules over 4-6 months, bringing in the right mentors to support fellows, and establishing a measurable framework for evaluation as The Exchange considers how to evolve and scale this offering in the future.

This is a contract position with an expected duration of approximately 9 months, starting in Q2 2025. The first three months will be dedicated to program planning, with the Fellowship anticipated to kick-off at the end of the Summer and run until early 2026. The expected deliverable will be the successful execution of the 6-month Fellowship pilot supporting 5–10 fellows sourced from The Exchange’s partner universities. The consultant should anticipate dedicating up to 10 hours per week to this engagement.

While not a requirement, the program delivery partner’s ability to leverage their network and insights to identify relevant funders and operating models to grow this initiative in the future would be an added benefit. Upon mutual interest there could be opportunities to jointly pursue support to grow the program in future years.

Tasks are anticipated to include:
• Designing, delivering, and overseeing the execution of The Exchange’s virtual modules for the pilot fellowship over 4–6 months, ensuring content alignment with program objectives and integration of best practices and fundamentals of building an early-stage climate tech venture.
• Recruitment and onboarding of mentors and advisors to match with Fellows for dedicated session(s).
• Recruitment and onboarding of any additional experts who might offer specific consultation or support to Fellows as agreed upon with The Exchange.
• Working alongside The Exchange team to finalize program details, including articulating actionable and measurable goals and objectives, and mapping out necessary resources.
• Collaborating with The Exchange team to help shape the Fellowship’s New York Climate Week experience including Exchange-led programming and opportunities to maximize exposure and strategic engagement for fellows.
• Offering ongoing consultation during the pilot phase to incorporate feedback and support continuous improvement of program delivery, as well as potential scaling of the program in the future.

Interested parties should submit:
• Examples of past work that demonstrate relevant experience supporting early-stage climate tech ventures.
• Qualifications for firm and key staff, including details on key personnel who would lead the engagement.
• Sketch of a proposed approach, including topics for fellowship modules, and archetypes of mentors/advisors, and fee. A total project fee is preferred.

Confirmation of availability from April 2025-January 2026, including in-person engagement during Climate Week 2025 (Sept 21-28)

Preference will be given to reviewing proposals received by 3/21.  Applications will be accepted online or by email.  Please feel free to submit materials to apply@nyclimateexchange.org.
