Clemson University is seeking a Climate Smart Extension Educator for Leafy Greens. The role involves planning, teaching, and evaluating educational programs related to climate-smart commodities. JOB SUMMARY:

This posting is for an Open Rank Extension Position which will be classified in one of the following (LA20-Ag/Animal Associate I or UK41-Extension Associate) depending on education and experience. Work cooperatively with local and state staff to plan, teach, and evaluate Extension educational programs associated with the Building Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities in SC grant at the local or state level. Serve on the Horticulture Program Team. Other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

60% - Essential - (LA20) Collaborate with Extension Associates and Agents to coordinate and deliver Cooperative Extension components of Climate-Smart Grown in SC Leafy Greens Project locally. Liaise between enrolled producers and Project staff to ensure that program implementation, reporting requirements and research goals are met.

(UK41) Coordinate Cooperative Extension components of Climate-Smart Grown in SC Leafy Greens Project at the statewide level. Train Extension agents, commercial producers, and other stakeholders about Climate Smart practices in leafy greens production. Provide technical assistance and deliver educational programs to growers, landowners, and Extension agents. Collaborate with other Extension Associates, Agents, and Researchers.

15% - Essential - (LA20) Provide adequate, timely, useful, and research-based information to clientele and stakeholders, by means of mass media, newsletters, direct mail, telephone, electronic means, and clientele groups.

(UK41) Provide adequate, timely, useful, and research-based information to clientele, stakeholders, and agents by means of mass media, newsletters, direct mail, telephone, electronic means, and clientele groups. Produce technical fact sheets and reports related to Climate-Smart production.

15% - Essential - (LA20) Work cooperatively with University researchers and extension staff to train producers and other stakeholders in leafy greens production.

(UK41) Train and support county extension agents. Work cooperatively with University researchers and extension staff to train producers and other stakeholders in leafy greens production.

10% - Essential - (LA20) Document programming impacts for targeted stakeholders at the local level and contribute to all relevant Extension and grant project reporting requirements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Bachelor's Degree - Animal husbandry, agriculture or a related field and experience in agricultural research or animal care that is directly related to the area of employment. Work experience in animal care or agricultural research may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

Work Experience - 2+ years:

(LA20) Demonstrated experience in educational program delivery, project management, or similar.

(UK41)Two years of demonstrated experience in educational program delivery.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Master's Degree - Horticulture or closely related field

Education - Doctoral / Professional Degree - Horticulture or closely related field

Work Experience - 2+ years:

(LA20) Direct experience in Extension program development and evaluation

(UK41) Two years of direct experience in Extension program development and evaluation

Standard Hours: 37.5

Compensation Information

Anticipated Salary Range: $40,000 - $59,200

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

Essential Personnel Level

Essential Level 2 employee

Required to maintain/resume essential support functions, deliver direct care services, and/or provide recovery support before normal operations resume. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
