Climate Science Instructor

The College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences invites applications for a part-time (.75 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term, Climate Science Instructor position.

This .75 FTE, 12-month position approximates a traditional 1.00 FTE, 9-month instructional role, but includes security and benefits often not included in a 9-month position, such as paid vacation time and year-round income.

The primary purpose of this position is to develop and deliver on-campus and online (ecampus) courses in climate and atmospheric sciences and meteorology for the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences (CEOAS) at OSU.

Courses may include a 100 level course in weather and climate, ATS 201 Climate Science, and upper division courses that support the climate science program and align with the incumbent's area of specialization.

In addition to instruction, the incumbent will be responsible for course and curriculum development, online course and digital content development, in part in collaboration with other faculty, and coordination of online and face-to-face course content.
Key Responsibilities:
• 80% – Instruction: Teach courses on campus and online (Ecampus) in Climate Science and other courses aligned with the incumbent's expertise and programmatic needs.
• 10% – Professional Currency and Program Development: Engage in activities to maintain currency and sustain professional growth in the instructor's discipline and pedagogy.
• 10% – Service: Participate as needed on College and University committees and perform other service that contributes to the effectiveness of the College, University, and profession.
Requirements:
• PhD in Climate Science, Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, or a closely related discipline by the start date of the position.
• Relevant teaching experience and evidence of or commitment to excellence in inclusive teaching and student success.
• Demonstrated commitment to educational equity in a multicultural setting and a commitment to advancing the participation of diverse groups and supporting diverse perspectives.
• Effective communicator in oral and written forms.
