Our Client, a Global Strategic Management Consulting firm is currently expanding their dynamic CNRI team and seeking to recruit a Climate and Disaster Risk Specialist.

Main Purpose of the Role :

To contribute to the execution of their climate change and risk analysis portfolio including disaster risk management, disaster risk reduction and adaptation, risk assessment, as well as strategy-related projects.

You will also play an active role in growing and securing Climate, Natural Resources and Infrastructure work.

Duties and responsibilities include :
• Conducting climate risk assessments, including the identification of vulnerability hotspots across diverse development contexts to inform policy and investment decisions.
• Development of climate analysis and risk assessment tools that support data-driven decision making for climate adaptation and resilience planning.
• Guidance of the selection and application of appropriate climate change datasets, conducting in-depth analysis of the outputs and evaluating impacts on various rural and urban landscapes, including infrastructure systems.
• Communicating findings and insights to clients, partners and senior decision-makers in government, development finance and the private sector.
• Leading the delivery of high-quality analytical products, decision support tools and innovative solutions to address complex climate-related social and environmental challenges.
• Overseeing and coordinating teams of consultants and external experts to deliver client assignments in a dynamic international environment while maintaining ownership of deliverables.
• Managing cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams to tackle complex business, economic, social and environmental challenges, focusing on Africa.
• Making an active contribution to developing new business opportunities and proposal development.
• Building & maintaining active networks with technical partners and clients.

Minimum qualification, experience and skills required :
• An Undergraduate and in relevant field including (but not limited to) Climate and / or Environmental Sciences (or similar), Disaster Risk Reduction, Engineering
• Masters degree in a relevant field including (but not limited to) Climate and / or Environmental Sciences (or similar), Disaster Risk Reduction, Engineering.
• 10+ years of working in consultancy or advisory or a relevant corporate services environment
• Experience in managing and delivering consulting assignments in relevant fields ( climate change, natural resources, disaster management, public infrastructure ) and comfortable with client and contract management.
• Specific experience in undertaking climate risk and impact assessments.
• Ability in guiding junior colleagues in the delivery of quantitative analyses.

Advantageous requirements include :
• Experience of working in Africa and other frontier markets
• Experience with Early Warning System design, development and implementation

Specific skills and characteristics include :
• Management consulting skills including issue-based problem solving, financial analysis, operating model development, change management.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and deliver analytical tasks of a high quality .
• An energetic problem-solver, who is open-minded with multi-perspective views on climate change, disaster risk management, international development, natural resource management and infrastructure delivery .
• Clear commercial acumen and project management capabilities , including project budgeting
• A collaborative team player who is productive working interdisciplinary environment.
