Job description

We’re looking to hire a Climate Data Analyst for our Climate Science and Impacts Team. You will support, among others, the work of a project on Pacific resilience —Building Our Pacific Loss andDamage Response (BOLD Response)— which helps Pacific Island countries enhance their capacity to understand, model, and respond to long-term climate impacts. In this role, you will develop high-resolution, downscaled climate hazard projections, analyze adaptation limits, and model long-term risks from both extreme weather events and slow-onset climate processes. These insights will inform national responses and contribute to shaping effective loss and damage strategies for vulnerable island states.Beyond this project, you will contribute to the work of Climate Analytics’ Climate Science and Impacts Team by providing analyses on climate impacts and inputs to assessing socio-economic implications in various regions ranging from developing countries to key emitters. You will contribute to tools like the Climate Impact Explorer ( https://climate-impact explorer.climateanalytics.org/-) and diverse projects informing e.g. the financial sector about the costs of climate change.
• Work with large datasets and conduct statistical analyses for climate modeling
• Analyze current and future climate scenarios for different emission pathways
• Contribute to risk and vulnerability assessments across sectors (e.g. agriculture, water, urban systems)
• Contribute to assessments of the (socio-)economic implications of climate change
• Design and manage databases with climate data, ensuring quality and consistency
• Prepare technical and non-technical reports and contribute to scientific publications
• Document methodologies and translate findings into policy-relevant outputs
• Communicate results clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Provide training to partners on climate data tools and risk assessment
• Adjust methods in response to emerging issues and stakeholder needs
• Showing initiative by developing own ideas and contributing to proposal writing, networking and fundraising.
