Why does the job exist?
This position is responsible for providing project management and administrative support to achieve New Mexico's climate goals outlined in Executive Order 2019-003 on Climate Change and Waste Prevention, including coordinating the inter-agency Climate Change Task Force (CCTF), the State Climate Adaptation and Resilience Plan, and the State Comprehensive Climate Action Plan.
How does it get done?
- Manage the Climate Change Task Force (CCTF) projects and deadlines
- Implement the administration's climate policy
- Provide technical support to the CCTF as directed by the Office of the Governor or the Environment Department Co-Chair Designee including but not limited to organizing, developing and/or supporting the development and implementation of climate-related state policies
- Support funding requests and manage project funding
- Analyze datasets drawing defensible conclusions and documenting processes
- Facilitate and/or participate in meetings and following up on action items as identified
- Maintain regular communication and coordination with statewide other parties included but not limited to the U.S. Climate Alliance and other national and regional partners
- Participate in the development of high-quality technical reports and proposals
- Make public presentations, participate in workshops, conferences, or forums
- Offer administrative support with records management, funding and grant management, organizing and supporting meetings, maintaining and updating projects and strategic plans
- Produce routine metrics and reports

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have experience in the following:
- Climate action planning and an in-depth knowledge of state-level climate policy and programs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
- Demonstrating superior written and oral communication honed from writing grant proposals, presenting technical information in accessible ways, and facilitating group meetings
- Supporting program development and implementation
- Analyzing data to make informed decisions and recommendations
- Program development and strategic planning
- Project management and coordinating between groups (e.g. departments or agencies) in a professional setting
- Working knowledge of contract, professional services, and grant administration
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree and three (3) years of experience program administration or project management in areas related to the purpose of the position. Any combination of education and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling seven (7) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

• Education and years of experience must be related to the purpose of the position.
• If Minimum Qualification requires a specific number of "semester hours" in a field (e.g. 6 semester hours in Accounting), applicants MUST have those semester hours in order to meet the minimum qualifications. No substitutions apply for semester hours.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course certificate as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Infrequent travel to visit industrial sources of air pollution and attend training is required, which may include occasional evening and weekend hours. Must be able to climb stairs and ladders. Normal work schedule is Monday through Friday. There may be incidental travel in-state and out-of-state.
