We’re in the top 5% of utility companies worldwide when it comes to employee engagement and ranked as a Top 50 UK Employer on Glassdoor. Join us to make a positive impact on the environment and our communities, while being valued and supported in a truly inclusive workplace.
If you want to do more, because you care, we want you on our team.
LET’S CUT STRAIGHT TO IT
We’re looking for a Climate Change Specialist to join our Climate Change Team and play a pivotal role in embedding climate adaptation across our business. You’ll lead the development of tools, systems and processes that improve how we assess climate risk—turning insight into action and helping us make informed, resilient decisions.
Some of the other key accountabilities:
• Standardising and increasing the use of climate-related data across the business.
• Develop and maintain a high-quality climate risk assessment approach to ensure that we build an improved understanding of climate risk at varying granularity and that this insight can be used to drive our adaptation plans.
• Coach other teams through delivery of climate risk assessments to maintain high-quality insights across the business.
• Quantify current and future risks, impacts and performance so that we’re able to understand the real-world implications of climate change in tangible terms.
• Quantify the financial cost of events, risks, impacts and solutions so that this information can feed into our operational management, investment plans and risk systems.
• Monitor and track climate risk over time and space to enable prioritised management of climate risk and adaptive planning.
• Building consideration of climate risks and impacts into other company systems and processes and producing tools to support decision making.
You’ll be based at our Head Office in Coventry. With this being such a critical role, we’re looking for someone who can join us 37 hours a week. WFH flexibility is available and travel to other sites will be required at times, so you’ll need to hold a full UK driving licence.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
• Significant experience of risk assessment, management and its application to business decisions.
• Knowledge and experience in climate change, climate risk analysis and their future modelling.
• Experience working with climate data and models (e.g. IPCC scenarios).
• Knowledge of the national landscape for climate adaptation.
• A proven track record of detailed analysis, trend spotting and insight presentation to shape and drive business decisions.
• Experience of building relations with diverse stakeholders.
• Understanding of Severn Trent’s progress, plans and reporting on climate adaptation.
• Experience of successfully creating, developing and embedding new processes to meet changing needs.
You’ll be part of a passionate team driving real change in how we respond to climate risks. If you’re data-driven, creative, and ready to inspire others, we’d love to hear from you.
Skills and experience are important, but character, positivity, and a caring attitude matter too. We welcome and celebrate diverse individuals, knowing they help us better serve our communities. We seek people who get involved, want to be part of something bigger, and make a difference because they care.
