Job Description

The University of Reading is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Scientist for the CANARI project in Mexico City. The role involves simulating extreme storms and analyzing their impacts on climate change, particularly heavy precipitation and flooding. Candidates should have a strong background in atmospheric science, engineering, physics, or mathematics, along with programming skills. This is a full-time position.
Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join our team at the University of Reading. As a member of the NCAS research group, you will contribute to the CANARI project, focusing on simulations of extreme storms impacting the UK in present and future climates.
<br>
Key responsibilities include:
<br><br>• Performing simulations of present and future extreme storms forced by boundary conditions from the CANARI Large Ensemble<br>• Analyzing and evaluating the simulations, focusing on the impact of climate change on heavy precipitation, inland flooding, and extreme winds<br>• Collaborating with CANARI partners on regional climate change and high-impact weather<br><br>
To succeed in this role, you must have a strong background in atmospheric science, engineering, physics, or mathematics, along with excellent programming and data analysis skills.
