About the position

Self-Help Credit Union is seeking a Sector Leader for Electric Transportation to join our Climate Capital team in Oakland, CA. This role is pivotal in overseeing the deployment of financing solutions aimed at expanding the adoption of electric vehicles (EV) across the United States. The Sector Leader will coordinate with private-sector investors, community lenders, and government bodies to ensure that financing for EV projects is accessible and affordable, particularly for low-income and disadvantaged communities. The position is part of a broader initiative to finance tens of thousands of electric vehicles, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector and fostering a sustainable transportation future. In this role, you will monitor industry, regulatory, and tax changes to identify impacts that may affect lending programs. You will shape Self-Help's National Clean Investment Fund products, taking into account market demand and feedback while adhering to Self-Help's risk parameters. Additionally, you will lead and coordinate internal processes to develop a robust pipeline and effectively deliver loan products in alignment with the commitments of the National Clean Investment Fund. Engaging in industry groups, conferences, and events will be essential for forming trusted relationships with peer institutions, investors, and other industry actors. As a change agent, you will drive Self-Help's economic inclusion initiatives by integrating supplier diversity and utilizing businesses owned by women and people of color in third-party contracting and vendor management for relevant products and services. This role requires a strong commitment to creating economic opportunities for traditionally underserved communities and a preference for working in collaborative environments. You will also perform other duties as deemed necessary to support the mission of Self-Help.

Responsibilities

• Monitor industry, regulatory, and tax changes to identify impacts on lending programs.

• Shape Self-Help's National Clean Investment Fund products based on market demand and feedback.

• Lead and coordinate internal processes to develop a robust pipeline for loan products.

• Engage in industry groups, conferences, and events to build relationships with peers and investors.

• Contribute to policy discussions and program advocacy.
,
• Drive economic inclusion initiatives by integrating supplier diversity in contracting and vendor management.

• Perform other duties as necessary.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience plus 7 years in clean energy, climate finance, product development, project management, or urban planning.

• Master's degree in a related field preferred.
,
• Subject matter expertise in Electric Vehicle and transportation/infrastructure sectors.
,
• Existing contacts and relationships within the climate finance sector are a significant plus.
,
• Demonstrated experience in multiple parts of a full product lifecycle: research, market analysis, compliance review, testing, marketing, deployment, and iterating.

• Prior professional experience in clean energy/climate lending and/or investing preferred.
,
• Strong commitment to creating economic opportunity for underserved communities.

• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate teammates.
,
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across multiple locations.

• Strong quantitative skills for analyzing financial statements and projections.
,
• Ability to perform quick risk assessments on financial factors.
