Job Description

JP Morgan Chase & Co. is seeking a Vice President for Climate and Nature Risk Modelling in Mumbai. Responsibilities include developing climate risk analytics, conducting research, and mentoring junior staff. About the job:
Key responsibilities:

1. Guide and develop analytics to support climate and physical risk analytical frameworks, focusing on modeling methodologies and financial impact research.

2. Conduct research on climate-related topics affecting the firm's activities, designing metrics and models to assess financial risks.

3. Become an expert in datasets and models used for climate risk management, such as IPCC scenarios and/or NGFS scenarios.

4. Produce documentation to support climate risk assessment models and user tools.

5. Address regulatory expectations and requirements for managing climate-related risk.

6. Provide mentorship to junior team members, offering guidance and support to enhance their professional growth and development.

Other Requirements:

1. Experience in climate modeling, including model evaluation and/or development, ideally applied to business cases.

2. Excellent analytical skills and comfort working with large datasets.

3. Proficient in a coding language (e.g., Python, R) for data and geospatial analysis.

4. Strong academic background in a highly quantitative discipline (e.g., engineering, physics, geography, or maths).

5. Highly effective in narrating analytical output to stakeholders, with strong interpersonal and presentation skills.

6. Masters degree in a quantitative field in economics, environmental science or technology

7. Prior experience in the Climate Risk Space, preferably in the domain of climate stress testing/ scenario designing.

8. Minimum 6 Yrs in the Risk domain e.g. Credit, market Liquidity risk in a Financial Institution

9. Ability to articulate thoughts clearly and succinctly, both written and verbally.
