Position Overview:

To assess the health impacts and risks due to climate change, the Division of Environmental Toxicology, Hazard Assessment & Prevention (TOX) has collected surveillance data of environmental health outcomes to better understand climate hazards and analyze trends in environmental exposures and health impacts. The intern will assist the TOX Division with developing and analyzing climate and environmental health data sets.

Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain data sets and GIS layers for climate hazards, vulnerable populations, social determinants of health (SDOHs) and health outcomes related to climate change vulnerability.
• Explore relationship between climate-related parameters (temperature, precipitation) and water quality to inform forecasting of waterborne health hazards in Massachusetts.
• Analyze possible linkages between human illness data and water quality data

Skills &

Qualifications:

TOX is seeking an intern with knowledge of environmental science and/or environmental health principles, strong data analysis skills, and experience using GIS software.
