CarbonBetter is seeking a Climate and Carbon Markets Analyst in Austin, TX, to support sustainability and decarbonization services. The role involves researching carbon markets, assisting clients in their sustainability journeys, and developing decarbonization strategies. Position Overview
CarbonBetter is seeking a Climate and Carbon Markets Analyst who is passionate about the carbon market’s role in sustainability. We are looking for a gifted researcher, thinker, problem solver, and networker to support our Sustainability & Decarbonization services. The analyst will help our clients strategize, navigate, and procure credits in the Voluntary Carbon Markets. The Analyst will also support clients at all stages of their sustainability journey—from assessing their carbon footprint, quantifying their environmental impacts, and generating sustainability reports to developing decarbonization strategies.

Qualifications
• Sustainability and GHG Accounting: Interest and ideally 1+ years of experience in GHG accounting (Scopes 1 and 2 at a minimum with Scope 3 being a plus), development of decarbonization strategies, and creation of sustainability reports. Consulting experience will be considered a plus.
• Research: Ability to perform methodical research and synthesis of climate science studies, existing public and private sector policies, carbon accounting methodologies, standards and protocols for environmental and climate disclosures, carbon credit standards and protocols, and other relevant data and information sources.
• Client Service: Passion to serve and support clients in their sustainability journey.
• Thought Leadership Development: Ability to create public-facing white papers and internal thought leadership pieces to explain company viewpoints on a variety of sustainability-related topics to be shared on our Stories page on our website.
• Business Collaboration: Willingness to support related business processes such as client proposals, partnership formation, sustainability reporting, case study development, marketing copy, and public relations.
• Monitoring changes in the world of Sustainability: Interest in continuously keeping up to speed with external research and emerging viewpoints to improve the effectiveness of CarbonBetter’s sustainability efforts.
• Offset Protocol Application: Knowledge of navigating the application process for developing carbon offset credits by applying appropriate standards and protocols and working with registration and verification bodies.
• VCM: Working knowledge of the Voluntary Carbon Markets, active companies working within the VCM, pricing, registries, and regulation changes.
About You
• Savvy data analyst with expertise working with Excel (pivot tables, lookups etc.) and managing large volumes of data.
• Experience in sustainability, environmental research, finance, and/or consulting.
• Adept networking abilities combined with dealmaking capabilities.
• Bachelor’s degree is required (Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred).
• Characteristics: inquisitive; analytical; insightful; communicative; detail-oriented.
• Values: belief in science-based solutions for climate change; recognition of the power to drive change from within.
