Job Description

Adamah is seeking a Climate Action Generalist to support the Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition in implementing climate action projects aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Key responsibilities include consulting with members, providing climate expertise, facilitating initiatives, and analyzing data. The role requires strong communication, project management skills, and familiarity with the Jewish communal landscape. This is a remote position that can be done from anywhere in the U.S.
About Adamah’s Climate Action Team:

The Adamah Climate Action team runs the Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition (Coalition), a network of Jewish community organizations who recognize the existential threat and moral urgency of climate change and commit to take action. Coalition members commit to annually fill out, submit, and implement Climate Action Plans, which outline the strategic priorities of their organization’s climate work.

Job Summary

The Climate Action Generalist will primarily consult with and support Coalition members to implement their climate action projects that focus on reducing organizational greenhouse gas emissions. They will combine strategic and technical expertise with a relationship-oriented approach to advance members’ projects.
• Climate Action Plan Implementation (50%)
• Provide climate expertise in energy efficiency/building performance, clean energy, and electrification projects.
• Identify and support climate action projects in alignment with Adamah’s Climate Action Overview.
• Support program members with a relationship-oriented, customer care mindset to implement their projects.
• Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition (35%)
• Provide direct support for developing and facilitating existing Coalition initiatives, including climate solution area resource guides, member workshops, and be a general thought partner to the team.
• Support the administration of member engagement strategy, including (but not limited to) monthly newsletters and targeting email campaigns.
• Facilitate a community of practice of Coalition members, including quarterly virtual gatherings.
• Analyze data from climate action plan submissions and provide insights to inform program strategy.
• Support drafting and implementation of a roadmap to decarbonize American Jewish life.
• Administration/Other (15%)
• Attend weekly department and Coalition meetings, monthly all-staff meetings, and other meetings as required (virtual).
• Track work progress in a shared data management system.
• Engage in professional development activities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Helpful prior skills and experience include:
• Project management of decarbonization and/or energy efficiency projects
• Strong communication skills and teamwork abilities
• Data management and analysis, particularly with climate and energy data
• Strong Microsoft Suite (Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint), Zoom, and Salesforce experience
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks effectively
• Self-starter, ability to self-motivate and work on solo projects as needed
• Strong attention to detail as well as ability to hold a big-picture view
• Commitment to deadlines and task completion
• Customer service mindset, knowing how to ask the right questions
• Growth mindset, with eager aspirations to see specific climate solutions and decarbonization projects completed
• Familiarity with the professional and lay leader Jewish communal landscape that is represented by Coalition membership
• Helpful: an interest and experience in storytelling

Working Conditions:

This is an exempt position with work hours set to Monday-Friday, with rare travel and weekend work possible. This is a virtual position and can be done anywhere in the U.S.
