Job Description

Gulf Island is hiring a Cleaning and Environmental Technician for offshore work in Houma, LA. Responsibilities include entering and cleaning offshore tanks, enforcing safety standards, and participating in training. The position is on-call and requires physical stamina. Candidates need at least 2 years of offshore experience, a TWIC card, and must pass various screenings. Benefits include health insurance, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan.
Main Purpose

To execute Cleaning and Environmental offshore project work assignments.

Essential Functions
• Enter offshore tanks and remove products by handling hoses and pumps
• Clean offshore tanks after the removal of products
• Effectively applies company policy and procedures and enforces project standards.
• Complete all required training.
• Participate in Gulf Island safety program.
• This position is On Call, working nights, weekends and holidays is a requirement.

Physical Requirements
• Standing: This is an essential job function/physical requirement.
• Walking: This is an essential job function/physical requirement.
• Turning, twisting, bending, and stooping: These physical requirements are essential job functions.
• Pushing and Pulling: These physical requirements are essential job functions.
• Reaching, forward, and reaching overhead: These are essential job functions /physical requirements
• Balancing, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing: These are all considered normal physical duties/requirements and would be needed/required to work in this industrial environment safely and efficiently.
• Lifting: employees should be able to lift to 25-50 pounds.

Job Requirements
• Must have a minimum of 2 years offshore experience.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Desirable Experience, Education, And Training
• TWIC card is required.
• Must be able to Pass T-Huet (Water Survival Training)
• Highschool diploma or GED.

Environmental Conditions

80 to 90% of the work activities are performed outdoors. Individuals will be required to work in changes of temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet, and dry conditions, dust, mud, etc.
