Job Description Summary
The Clean Energy Development Director is responsible for managing the entire development process of 12-20MW clean energy generating/storage projects at one time, including feasibility analysis, deal structuring, financing, securing grant monies, obtaining necessary approvals, working with public utilities and public service commission as needed, and overseeing design/installation of systems. This position involves teamwork and collaboration with colleagues including other real estate development, design and construction management, accounting, property and asset management staff. The Clean Energy Development Director will manage a team of third-party consultants such as legal, finance and engineering, procurement and construction firms to ensure projects are completed and meet pre-established metrics.
Primary responsibilities are focused on achieving the objectives for the clean energy development projects and managing tasks related to feasibility, financial analysis, design, project financing, installation and placing in service. The Clean Energy Development Director is expected to work independently and effectively project manage the development team (including installer, attorneys, internal and external construction managers, property managers and leasing agents) and the financing process. Additional responsibilities include supporting senior staff in managing lender and investor relations; producing progress reports and analysis; maintaining project budgets and schedules; and processing development draws.
Job Description
• Analyze existing properties to determine feasibility for new clean energy investments and coordinate due diligence activities
• Manage project development process from inception to completion collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders - due diligence and fatal flaw analysis, resource assessment, site control, legal, interconnection, community and government affairs, permitting, marketing, construction support, and project financing
• Conduct financial analysis and modeling to assess project viability and profitability
• Prepare development budgets and proforma operating budgets and manage the development budget throughout the development process to ensure balanced sources and uses, and achievement of company's revenue goals
• Develop and negotiate site access agreements critical to the project's success
• Oversee the permitting and utility interconnection, and related community input and approval processes
• Review and negotiate draft loan and partnership documents and manage the financial closing on each solar project
• Coordinate with federal, state and local government agencies, ensuring that all financing and government regulations are met and required approvals obtained
• Coordinate with asset/property management, residents and community stakeholders concerning the project developments
• Lead due diligence efforts for potential investment projects, ensuring compliance with financial, legal, and technical requirements
• Manage and maintain clean energy development schedules to ensure timely completion of project milestones including closing and placed-in-service
• Prepare quarterly updates, project reporting and Board approval materials
• Stay up to date on market trends, regulatory policies, and technologies in the renewable energy sector
• Build and maintain relationships with key industry partners, investors, and stakeholders
• Perform all other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities: No direct reports
Essential Skills, Experience And Talents:
• Passionate about the clean energy technologies and quality project execution
• Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Engineering, or related field
• 10+ years of experience in business development, project finance, or related field, with a focus on clean energy investments
• Commercial and industrial (multi-family preferred) clean energy origination and development experience
• Demonstrated history of collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders to bring clean energy projects to commercial operation
• Strong financial acumen with working knowledge of complex financial analyses
• Knowledge of multi-layered project financing with the Federal Investment Tax Credit, Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and other green/energy loan products
• Experience managing projects under deadlines that require the organizing of multiple tasks and objectives
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Working knowledge of renewable energy technologies, market trends, and regulatory policy incentives, wholesale electricity markets, interconnection, real estate contracts, and tax abatements
• Strong leadership abilities and including the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
• Strong project management skills and attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, effective negotiation skills, and comfortable with public speaking
• Proficiency with Microsoft products (including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to travel as needed for project development and due diligence activities

• The base salary range for this role is $130,000 to $160,000/year depending on level of skills and experience.
• The salary range for this position is represented by the low and high end of the range for the amount to be paid for the position. Salaries paid at Enterprise will vary based on factors that may include skills, education, location, experience, and performance.
