Job Description

Willdan Group is seeking a Clean Energy Advisor for a one-year training program in Monterey, CA. This role supports individuals launching careers in California's clean energy sector, offering flexible scheduling and combines paid online coursework with hands-on experience. The advisor will conduct outreach, perform equipment assessments, and engage with underrepresented customer segments to promote energy efficiency projects. Participants will receive support for job-seeking and transitioning into full-time roles.

Summary

The Clean Energy Advisor is a one-year, on-the-job training opportunity designed to support students, adult learners, and part-time workers seeking to launch a career in California’s clean energy industry. This role offers flexible scheduling within standard business hours and combines paid online coursework, in-person learning, and hands-on experience supporting the Central California Rural Regional Energy Network’s (CCR REN) Commercial Energy Efficiency Program. Focused on delivering no-cost energy upgrades to hard-to-reach businesses in Monterey, Santa Cruz, or San Benito County, the Clean Energy Advisor will gain practical skills while serving the local community. Participants will receive paid resume support, interview preparation, and job-seeking time, with the goal of successfully transitioning into a full-time role in the energy efficiency sector.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Participate in, engage with, and learn the materials presented during the on-the-job education and training.
• Collaborate with and support the CCR REN Partner, the association of Monterey Bay Area Governments (AMBAG), to conduct outreach to potential customers, including presentations, and one-on-one meetings, as needed.
• Conduct on-site equipment assessments with customers that align with program offerings, gather required photos and other necessary documentation to make recommendations.
• Present the corresponding recommendations for services offered by the program and gain commitments by customers to proceed through obtaining necessary signed documents and other required customer information.
• Collect, analyze, and maintain project data to ensure compliance with existing project delivery processes.
• Proactively engage with underrepresented customer segments to ensure equitable program access and benefits.
• Support the successful completion of energy efficiency projects from beginning-to-end by maintaining communication with the customers and coordinating with the program delivery team. Other duties as assigned to support program delivery and the Clean Energy Advisor position.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with clients, employees and employer.
• Eligible to work in the United States.
• Valid driver's license in the State of California.
• Ability to day travel.
