The City of Post Falls is seeking a City Planner I for a full-time position in Coeur d'Alene, ID. Responsibilities include conducting research and analysis of land use development, performing field inspections, preparing GIS maps, and presenting findings to various stakeholders. A bachelor's degree in a related field and relevant experience are preferred. The role is office-based under the direction of the Planning Manager.

The City of Post Falls is located four miles east of the Washington-Idaho border along Interstate 90 in Kootenai County.

Role Description

The primary function of an employee in this class is to perform technical planning work involving the research, review, and analysis of land use development requests. This employee conducts field inspections, meets with the public, prepares GIS maps to facilitate staff reports, reviews land use permit applications, and presents findings and recommendations to Community Development Staff, City Commissions, City Council, and the public.

The work is performed under the direction of the Planning Manager. An employee in this class may be assigned other related duties within the Community Development Department. The principal duties are performed in a public office environment.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in planning, landscape architecture, geography, public administration, or a related field;
• One (1) year of experience in planning or a related field is desired;
• Or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the necessary knowledge and abilities;
• Valid driver’s license.
