Elemental Excelerator is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) based in Honolulu, HI, to lead financial strategy and manage a diverse investment platform. The role involves overseeing financial operations, compliance, and team management within a $30M+ budget. Candidates should have extensive experience in financial leadership across both nonprofit and for-profit sectors, with strong skills in compliance, communication, and strategic planning.

About the Role
Elemental Impact is on the lookout for a passionate Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our financial strategy and drive the growth of our investment platform. As the most senior financial executive, you will play a crucial role in architecting a multi-asset class platform with diverse investment strategies and capabilities. This is a unique opportunity to operate at the intersection of philanthropy and finance while overseeing various investment vehicles and ensuring financial optimization.
This role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is part of the executive leadership team, managing a dynamic financial operations team that is dedicated to maintaining a strong financial foundation. Collaboration with internal teams and external partners is key to executing our financial strategies effectively.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Platform Fund Leadership: Design and develop a diverse investment platform to enhance our impact.Fund Administration: Manage the performance tracking and administration of current and expanding investment vehicles.Capital Innovation: Craft and implement strategies to develop new capital sources for greater reach.Portfolio Payments & Risk Management: Support risk management and ensure timely execution of investment transactions.Non-Profit Financial Operations & Revenue Compliance:
Non-Profit Oversight: Lead financial and administrative functions within a $30M+ budget while ensuring compliance across multiple entities.Grant Revenue Compliance: Establish a robust framework for grant administration, meeting industry standards and regulatory requirements.Strategic FP&A: Oversee the budgeting process and integrate diverse revenue streams into a cohesive financial plan.Treasury & Controls: Manage banking relationships and execute transactions efficiently.Team Management: Mentor and lead a high-performing finance team to achieve both individual and organizational goals.Qualifications

Financial Mastery: Proven experience in senior financial leadership within complex multi-entity organizations.Both For-profit and Non-profit Expertise: Successful track record in venture capital/private finance and nonprofit settings.Systems Fluency: Proficient with ERP and accounting software, leveraging technology for operational efficiency.Compliance Rigor: Strong knowledge of GAAP, FASB, and federal audit requirements.Communications: Exceptional analytical, communication, and presentation skills.Values Aligned: High integrity, accountability, and commitment to continuous learning, embodying our organizational values.Standout Skills:
Architectural Vision: Experience in designing complex multi-entity platforms that integrate philanthropy with finance.Blended Finance Expertise: Successful history of combining federal funding with investment capital to support innovative technologies.Strategic Capital Recycling: Innovative approach to managing recoverable grants and PRIs for sustainable funding.Compensation & Benefits
This full-time position requires at least 40 hours of work weekly, including periodic travel. The salary for this role ranges from $262,200 to $330,000 based on market data and the organization’s compensation philosophy, and it may vary based on location and relevant experience. Comprehensive employee benefits are included, such as a professional development stipend and three weeks of paid time off.
Location
While we prefer candidates near our headquarters in Honolulu, San Francisco, or New York, Elemental utilizes a hybrid working model. Employees are encouraged to come into the office at least once a week to foster community, with many choosing to come in two days a week.
