The State of California is seeking a Chief for the Climate Indicators and Site Assessment Section. This advertisement will run until the position is filled with review cutoff dates on the 1st and 15th of each month, starting May 27, 2025.

The Climate Indicators and Site Assessment Section (CISAS) within the Air and Site Assessment and Climate Indicators Branch provides scientific evaluations, research, and technical work for CalEPA, other state and local agencies, NGOs, and entities on environmental challenges affecting health and ecosystems.
• The Contaminated Sites Program offers technical support on risk assessments for contaminated site cleanup.
• The Climate Change Indicators Program researches climate change impacts, drivers, and trends in California.

CISAS also updates hazardous material lists and provides toxicological expertise for various OEHHA programs.

Under the supervision of the Supervising Toxicologist, the Chief supervises a team of toxicologists and environmental scientists, providing scientific leadership and program management, coordinating with other agencies and institutions.

Working Conditions

This hybrid role includes office work and telework. It involves extended computer use, possible travel for meetings, hearings, or project work, and may require travel to other locations.

Locations may include 1515 Clay Street, Oakland, or 1001 I Street, Sacramento.

Salary ranges: $12,185 - $15,148 (Managerial), $12,295 - $15,730 (Senior Toxicologist). One position available.
