Put your analytical skills toward making a positive impact on the planet and your career! Join ICF in support of the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) contract at the new Region 9 Laboratory in Corvallis, Oregon.
ICF is looking for an Environmental Laboratory Chemist in support of the USEPA Region 9 Environmental Services Assistance Team (ESAT) contract. ESAT provides analytical, quality assurance (QA), and technical support to USEPA programs such as Superfund and Drinking Water requiring the identification, assessment, remediation, and regulation of environmental hazards. The team performs analysis on soil, water, air, waste, and tissue samples for chemical contaminants using USEPA-approved methods supporting EPA’s mission to protect human health and the environment through programs such as Drinking Water, Clean Water Act (CWA), Clean Air Act (CAA), and Superfund (CERCLA).
The Environmental Chemist will apply their knowledge and work experience to support the preparation and analysis of samples for primarily organic chemistry methods with possible cross-training on various inorganic analyses. All team activities must comply with EPA methods for various media (air, water, soil, biota) and environmental programs as well as the NELAC standard (2016). Job duties include sample preparation in support of and operation of GC-ECD, GC-FID, and GCMS to determine volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds, pesticides, Aroclors, and fuel hydrocarbon as well as new and emerging contaminants and possibly similar work for the determination of metals or other inorganic contaminants.
The successful candidate must be able to work both independently and as a member of a team.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related.
• 2+ years of laboratory experience using EPA-approved methodologies and instrumentation, preferably GC-FID and GC/MS.
• Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills, and the ability to think critically.
• MUST BE ABLE TO PASS an EPA background check to obtain access to US federal property.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Solvent extraction experience using EPA methodologies and CLLE, SPE, ASE and other techniques.
• 2-5 years of progressive experience in laboratories accredited for environmental analyses (e.g., TNI or NELAC, state programs).
• Experience working at Federal facilities.
• Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS’s), knowledge of Promium Element LIMS is a plus.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
$55,124.00 - $93,712.00 Oregon Client Office (OR88)
