Job Description
Green Cat Renewables Ltd is seeking a Senior Process Engineer with a focus on hydrogen projects in Glasgow, UK. The role involves developing and implementing engineering solutions, managing multi-disciplinary projects, and creating technical documentation. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in process engineering, a degree in Chemical Engineering, and familiarity with safety standards. This is a full-time position requiring potential travel.
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Engineer to join our team at Green Cat Renewables Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing process engineering solutions, ensuring safety, compliance, and optimal performance in green hydrogen projects.
Key Responsibilities:
• Delivery of process engineering activities during feasibility, pre-FEED, FEED, detailed design, construction, commissioning, and operation of green hydrogen projects.
• Management of process engineering aspects of multi-disciplinary projects in complex environments to schedule and budget.
• Development of process engineering work scopes, deliverable lists, and resource requirements for each project phase.
• Creation of high-quality technical documentation throughout the engineering lifecycle, including heat & material balances, process models, engineering calculations, specifications, datasheets, and technical reports.
• Active engagement in technical procurement processes, including technology assessment, OEM engagement, system sizing, equipment selection, analysis of value in use, FAT, SAT, and commissioning.
• Authoring, updating, and approving process engineering drawings, including block diagrams, process flow diagrams, and P&IDs.
Requirements:
• A minimum of 5+ years of experience in process engineering in design or operations environment.
• A bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated success in design and optimization of chemical processes, with a strong emphasis on process safety.
• Expertise in risk assessment methodologies and process safety management.
• Familiarity with typical project stage gate processes and the process engineering deliverables/activities normally conducted during each project stage.
• Proficiency in process simulation and use of relevant software tools.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel as necessary, supported by a valid UK driving license.
• Experience in the hydrogen, renewable energy, and/or industrial gases sectors.
• Familiarity with industry-specific standards for process design, such as ISO 4126/API 520/API 521, IEC 60079, PED, NFPA-2, ISO 22734, IEC 61511.
• Familiarity with the requirements of UK HSE legislation, such as PE(S)R, PSSR, DSEAR, COMAH.
• Professional accreditation or active membership in recognised engineering institutions.
