The role involves creating analytical models, conducting tests, and collaborating with teams on system design. Candidates should have a degree in engineering or physics and 4+ years of experience with CFD tools. The salary range is $130,000 - $150,000 annually.
Interested in working with a groundbreaking company that’s focused on decarbonizing the atmosphere? CarbonCapture Inc. develops and deploys direct air capture (DAC) machines that can be connected in large arrays to remove massive amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. With a patented modular open systems architecture, our DAC platform allows for plug-and-play upgrades, mass production, unlimited scalability, and rapid technology iterations.

We’re looking for a talented engineer to join our multi-disciplinary Systems team. In this role, you will support sophisticated analyses in the design of Direct Air Capture technologies. You will tackle problems including, but not limited to, heat transfer, fluid distribution, process modeling, and thermal systems design. You will be primarily responsible for solving problems that require CFD tools, while also contributing more broadly to system design and optimization efforts as a core member of the Systems team.

Responsibilities
• Create analytical models ranging from hand calculations to detailed CFD analyses to support the design of Direct Air Capture Systems.
• Utilize and iterate on models to identify potential issues, conduct root cause analysis, and recommend and validate improvements.
• Define, analyze, and support execution of tests on prototypes to characterize the system and verify model-based analysis.
• Prepare presentations and reports to effectively communicate findings to the broader team.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• 4+ years of full-time industry experience utilizing CFD tools such as Ansys Fluent and COMSOL.
• Thorough knowledge of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and general engineering principles.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams and integrate CFD analysis with other engineering disciplines.
• Understanding of basic concepts of adsorption/desorption.
Desired Background
• Professional understanding of CFD concepts including adequate meshing resolution, solution accuracy, convergence, boundary condition setup, transient modeling, and turbulence model selection.
• Industry experience supporting thermal systems design and/or chemical process engineering.
• Experience in solving mass transfer problems using CFD tools.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks.
• Familiarity with Python and data analysis tools.
• Prior experience in carbon capture technologies or related fields such as carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS).

$130,000 - $150,000 a year

The hiring range displayed above is specifically for those who will work in or reside in the location listed. In extending an offer, CarbonCapture Inc. considers factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s job-related skills, experience, knowledge, and relevant education/training.
