Unity Environmental University is hiring a Career Success Strategist to enhance career readiness among students. This role involves coordinating resources, events, and partnerships, promoting internships, and developing career preparation tools. The strategist will work with advising and recruitment teams to connect students with career opportunities and maintain records of engagement. The position is based in New Gloucester, ME, emphasizing collaboration and support for students in their career journeys.

Distance Education provides an entirely asynchronous, online

The Opportunity:
The Career Success Strategist supports the integration of
career-ready skills and experiences throughout the student
lifecycle by coordinating resources, events, and partnerships in
collaboration with advisors and institutional career services..
This position is responsible for working with the advising team in
promoting and coordinating student participation in the partnership
opportunities the University establishes, including internships and
career informational, preparation, and hiring events. The position
will curate and develop career preparation resources and tools, and
coordinate, promote, and assess events and opportunities that
support career readiness in fields aligned with Unity’s curriculum.
The position will work with the recruitment and student success
teams to connect students with the applicable resources, events,
and opportunities for career exploration, preparation, and
connections. In addition, this position will participate in the
professional development of the recruitment and student success
teams to ensure they can provide basic career exploration and
development support for all DE students.
This position must work proficiently in Stratus to monitor and
maintain accurate records of Enterprise Education career-related
engagement across the student body, ensuring that data is
well-organized, relevant, and reportable to support institutional
tracking and decision-making. In addition, the position will use
social media, AI and other technological tools to support student
engagement and success in meeting career goals. The position will
use social media to drive engagement with career development
opportunities for students and to help students learn to utilize
these tools to meet their career goals.
This position is part of the Student Success team and reports to
the Vice President for Student Outcomes.
Day to day responsibilities:
• Coordinate student participation in internships and related
partner-sponsored opportunities, including promoting and connecting
students with internship opportunities.
• Develop career preparation resources, content, events, and
networking opportunities.
• Build pathways with intentional career preparation components
throughout the life cycle.
• Maintain and update career-related content for Enterprise
Education students and staff.
• Help students utilize social media and AI in the job search
process.
• Work with the recruitment and student success teams to
facilitate career exploration.
• Act as a liaison and work closely with institutional career
services and employer partners.
• Identify in-demand skills and employer needs for career
readiness.
• Provide exceptional customer service to students, partners, and
Enterprise Education staff, and utilize surveys and other feedback
sources to assess and continually improve.
• Engage with students via inbound and outbound calls, texts,
emails, video meetings and webinars regarding internship and career
event logistics, responding to specialized questions that fall
outside the scope of academic advising. Support placement
coordination, eligibility confirmation, and other operational needs
in collaboration with advisors and employer partners.
• Utilize Salesforce/Stratus for career development, goal
tracking and all student communications and engagement.
• Maintain and contribute to the Enterprise Education
student-facing portions of the Career Hub.
• Work with advisors to collect student interests regarding
opportunities, locations and career pathways.
• Work with advisors to collect stories and testimonials
regarding experiences in an internship or partnership experience to
create a network of sites and students.
• Work by program and career clusters to determine popular
internships or employers and design resources to align with
them.
• Provide resources, training, and support for the student
success and recruitment teams.
• Work with the student success team to connect students with
university partners for internships, interviews and positions.
• Analyze the data and evaluate the communications, tools,
strategies and programs used for career readiness.
• Use social media to drive student engagement in career
development opportunities.
• Develop resources for students to develop technological skills
and knowledge to meet their career goals.
• Build structured career preparation pathways.
• Manage work-study positions supporting student success.
• Attend and help organize institutional/DE events such as
partnership events, webinars, commencement, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Do you have the skills?
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience in career development, customer service, sales or
student support.
• Excellent initiative and organizational skills with the ability
to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
• Working knowledge of job search and employment platforms,
including AI and social media.
• Great time management skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong
interpersonal skills.
• Ability and willingness to support non-traditional students
from various backgrounds, including those with different academic
experiences, career paths, and life circumstances.
• Strong technology skills in word processing, spreadsheets,
database systems and using technology for professional
communications.
• Personal commitment to the environmental focus and mission of
the Institution.
• Ability to function effectively within a matrix organizational
structure, maintaining open lines of communication while being
discreet, courteous, and well-poised.
• Ability to obtain a Maine Driver’s License with a good driving
record.
Preferred skills:
• Master’s degree.
• Experience in preparing students for career readiness.
• Knowledge of database systems such as CRM and SIS, ideally
Salesforce.

Just a half hour from Portland, Unity Environmental University
Headquarters, Unity Environmental University Distance Education,
The Technical School for Environmental Professions, and the School
of Environmental Business & Sustainable Ventures are based at
the Pineland Farms campus. The facilities are within easy access to
one of the fastest-growing cities for startups in the
country.
Work Schedule:
Work hours are specific to the requirements of this position and
can include days, evenings, and weekends. Working extended hours
required as needed. Must be flexible and cooperative in fulfilling
responsibilities and meeting the Institution’s needs. Although
Unity Environmental University employees are generally scheduled to
work at their specifically assigned locations, there are times when
travel is necessary and employees are required from time to time to
attend events, meetings or work temporary assignment at any Unity
Environmental University location.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, it is regularly required
to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to
stand or walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up
to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include
close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception,
and the ability to adjust focus. The use of either hand for
repetitive movements such as grasping, grasping and turning, and
fine manipulation is required as is the ability to use the
telephone for internal and external communications.
