The Carbon Specialist position at AESG in Dubai involves conducting Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and evaluating carbon emissions to support sustainability strategies. Responsibilities include leading assessments, developing carbon management strategies, analyzing emissions data, and communicating findings to clients. Candidates should have a relevant degree and 3-5 years of experience in LCA and carbon analysis. Certifications in green building and sustainability are advantageous.
Job Description:We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Carbon Specialist to join our Sustainability Division. The role will be responsible for conducting Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) for the built environment, evaluating embodied carbon, operational carbon, and material sustainability to support low-carbon and net-zero strategies. This role also involves analyzing carbon footprints, developing decarbonization pathways, and ensuring alignment with LEED and other green building certification requirements.Key Responsibilities:• Leading assessments of building materials and carbon emissions to identify hot spots for decarbonisation;• Support clients in achieving the carbon reduction targets associated with accreditation systems such as LEED & Envision;• Develop carbon management strategies for key strategic clients i.e., developers, industry, and government entities.• Develop and maintain carbon emissions models for a variety of industries and sectors, using data from multiple sources;• Analyse carbon emissions data and identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for emissions reduction;• Work closely with our team of sustainability experts to develop strategies and recommendations for reducing carbon emissions;• Communicate complex data and modelling results to clients and stakeholders in a clear and concise manner;• Participate in client meetings and presentations to discuss carbon emissions modelling results and recommendations;• Stay up to date with the latest developments in carbon emissions modelling and related technologies, and provide recommendations for new modelling tools or techniques;• Independently manage the delivery of projects in a client-face role;• Delivery of consultancy projects to high levels of quality within projects deadlines;• Assist in preparing proposals when required;• Seeking opportunities for repeat work and extension of work scope on projects.• Maintain a good knowledge of the key activities of specific specialty studies provided by AESG as part of the sustainability consultancy and compliance with targeted certifications (e.g., LCA, Energy Modeling, Microclimate studies, etc.)• Deliver high-quality reports and presentation material based on AESG standards.Qualifications:• Minimum a Degree in relevant subject (Architecture, Engineering, Sustainable Development etc.)• Masters degree in Sustainability or Energy or similar• Certifications in LCA, carbon management, green building certifications (e.g., LEED AP, WELL AP, Estidama PQP, Mostadam Assessor) are a plus.Experience:• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and carbon analysis for the built environment.• Hands-on experience in embodied carbon assessments, whole-building LCA, and carbon footprint reporting.• Experience in developing carbon reduction strategies for buildings and infrastructure projects.
