AlliedOffsets is seeking a Carbon Policy Analyst in London to analyze carbon markets and conduct policy research. The role involves market research, stakeholder engagement, and report generation. Candidates should be fluent in English and Spanish, with a relevant advanced degree. This entry-level position offers flexible working arrangements and aims to enhance transparency in carbon offsetting, supporting climate change mitigation efforts. What We Do AlliedOffsets combines technology, data, and finance to bring transparency to carbon offsetting. Our database contains 30,000+ projects with details about project specifics, carbon credits, buyers, retirements, news, brokers, resellers, prices, forward curves and more. Clients include corporations, financial institutions, brokers, academia, consulting firms, public sector entities, and research organizations. Why We Do It Carbon offsetting is increasingly popular as companies and individuals mitigate climate change. The market is fragmented, lacking a central registry for projects. Our database allows industry actors to access information on projects across registries, making the market more transparent. The Role The Carbon Policy Analyst will analyse voluntary and compliance carbon markets, conduct country policy analysis, and generate reports for clients and stakeholders. This role offers growth potential for candidates interested in stakeholder engagement, including industry leadership and collaboration with global policymakers. We are based in London and seek candidates from the LATAM region, as local expertise and proximity will be valuable for this internship. This is an entry-level opportunity to gain hands-on experience. Key Responsibilities • Conduct market research and analyse data to identify trends and insights. • Identify and evaluate trends, opportunities and risks within markets • Assist in gathering and compiling data for reports and presentations. Policy Analysis • Research and analyse national and international carbon policies and regulations. • Prepare detailed country policy reports highlighting key regulatory developments and their implications for carbon markets. Stakeholder Engagement • Engage with policymakers, industry representatives, and non-governmental organisations to gather insights and validate findings. • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and meetings. • Build long-term relationships with stakeholders, positioning the company as a thought leader in carbon markets. • Support efforts to strengthen stakeholder networks, with potential for evolving into a stakeholder engagement leadership role. Project Assistance • Work closely with other teams to ensure accuracy of analysis and reports. • Support sales cycle opportunities and product/tender assignments. • Provide subject matter expertise on carbon markets and policies to support various projects and initiatives. Requirements • Fluency in English and Spanish (spoken and written) is essential. • Advanced degree in Environmental Policy, Economics, International Relations, or a related field. • Experience in carbon markets, environmental policy analysis, or a related field is a plus. • Proven experience in conducting market and policy analysis. • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and policy documents. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, Python). • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
