Job Description
McKinsey & Company is seeking a Carbon Markets Manager in Singapore to lead carbon pricing initiatives within their Climate Strategy practice. The role involves working with public and private sector clients, developing expertise in carbon markets, and supporting climate policy design. Candidates should have an MSc/MA or Ph.D. in a related field, 7+ years of experience in carbon pricing, and strong analytical and project management skills.
Who You'll Work With:
You will be based in our Singapore office as part of our Carbon Markets team. You will focus on carbon pricing and will be part of our Climate Strategy practice to provide clear insights to clients in the public and private sector.

• What You'll Do:
You will lead the development of new thematic areas and key clients as well as identify and secure new opportunities for the firm at a project level.
In this role, you will work at the cutting-edge of carbon markets, supporting a global client base to navigate these markets, and to design and implement climate policies. This may include supporting governments to assess carbon pricing options and their impacts, providing intelligence on emerging areas such as the introduction of carbon border adjustments or climate negotiations under the UNFCCC, developing carbon pricing forecasts for use by investors and corporates, supporting the development of carbon credit and offsetting strategies to meet corporate net zero commitments, alongside a wide range of related analysis.
Over time, you will develop expertise and intellectual property (assets) on carbon pricing. You will participate in company improvements and may take the lead on internal change initiatives. You will also develop and see through plans, forecast resources and prepare budgets.
You will also keep up to date with knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
• Qualifications:
- MSc/MA or Ph.D. in economics, public policy or related field
- 7+ years of experience in carbon pricing and economic or financial analysis
- Strong understanding of economic concepts and themes particularly related to carbon pricing systems and climate and energy policies
- Experience spanning both compliance carbon pricing systems and voluntary carbon markets preferred
- Previous consultancy or regulatory experience is preferred
- Ability to lead teams working on both quantitative and qualitative workstreams
- Experience in upward managing and supporting a multi-organization consortium
- Good business development and project management experience
- Ability to think strategically and to work in a fast-paced and complex work environment
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Fluency in English
