This permanent position involves overseeing carbon strategies for major projects, providing guidance on carbon reduction, and representing COWI as an expert in carbon management. To enhance the range of services we offer to our clients, we are looking for a Carbon Manager to join us. Working on environmental projects, you’ll join our sustainability team and play a key part in delivering environmental projects while serving as a trusted expert within the carbon management community.

Your key responsibilities will be:
• Oversee and manage the carbon strategy for major projects, including from the offshore wind, tunnels, rail and bridge sectors.
• Provide guidance and support to carbon specialists and project carbon assessors in identifying and implementing carbon reduction opportunities.
• Draft and refine key sections of specialized reports (e.g., ORE Catapult II).
• Contribute to discussions and initiatives with other COWI business units, leveraging the UK’s leadership in this area.
• Represent COWI as a subject matter expert in carbon management within the construction industry.
• Identify and explore opportunities for research into carbon reduction strategies and low-emission materials.
• Prepare and publish high-quality technical papers to share insights and advancements.
• Represent COWI at professional institutions and industry conferences, showcasing knowledge in the field.

On top of that, you’ll have:
• A master’s degree in either civil engineering, physics or an environmental science, and if possible be chartered.
• Solid experience in engineering design, management, and construction processes.
• Detailed knowledge of construction materials, methods, and preparation of bills of quantities.
• Comprehensive understanding of low-carbon solutions under the principles of Avoid, Switch, and Improve.
• Experience in project management, with a history of successful delivery.
• Possess a strong working knowledge of carbon assessment tools, coupled with practical experience in implementing carbon reduction strategies across multiple projects.
• Proficient in spreadsheets, Power BI, and Python, with the ability to contribute creatively to the development of COWI's carbon tools.
• A desire to motivate team members with your enthusiasm to guide teams and act as a thought leader in carbon reduction efforts.
