Argonne National Laboratory is seeking a highly experienced scientist/engineer to lead our research efforts in carbon management. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a comprehensive research strategy that spans the entire laboratory, contributing to a world-class research program, and actively engaging with external sponsors to secure funding and foster collaborative partnerships.

About the Position

This newly created position will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of a strategic research plan in carbon management aligned with the mission and strategy of Argonne National Laboratory.

The selected individual will coordinate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and researchers to oversee and execute research projects effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities
• Lead the development and implementation of a strategic research plan in carbon management aligned with the mission and strategy of Argonne National Laboratory.
• Ccoordinate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and researchers to oversee and execute research projects effectively and efficiently.
• Identify emerging trends, opportunities, and challenges in carbon management and propose innovative research directions to address them.
• Foster collaboration and knowledge exchange across different divisions within Argonne National Laboratory to leverage expertise and resources.
• Cultivate relationships with external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and academic institutions, to secure funding and establish collaborative research initiatives.

Requirements
• Advanced degree in a relevant field such as chemical engineering, environmental science, materials science, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 12 years of experience in leading or conducting research and/or technology development in carbon management or related fields.
• Proven track record of leading multidisciplinary research teams and delivering impactful outcomes.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
